The group had been passing by a river on their journey to Elmwood. The group consisted of a wandering merchant sorcerer who joined the group after his cattle got murdered and he could no longer sell milk, a druid who's main ability was to turn into a 8 foot tall dog, and a fish man who could walk on land, but still had some fish-like traits.

"Its getting late, looks like it might rain soon too," Ted said setting down his bag on the ground, setting out a few books of different things. Some on magic, one on basic survival, and a cook book. "Cooper, can you get us some fish from the river?" Now, it my seem like cannibalism, but it was completely natural. Carnivorous Fish eat other fish all the time. Taking off his boots, He dived into the water to collect fish for the group. 5 should be enough.

What he didn't expect was for the river to be one big-ass canyon.

Swimming around for a bit, he spotted the last fish he needed to get before going back up. that was, until he saw a big ass shadow swim past him. Turning around, he looked for whatever it was that just went passed him catching the swish of a fin go behind one of the jutted out rocks, he watched as a webbed hand held onto the top of it and a head peaked out from behind it, only to immediately go back behind.

"Hey, I'm not gonna hurt you, come on out," Cooper said in a gentle voice. The Being peaked out again before slowly swimming out, it's face morphing into one of curiosity more than cautiousness. "You're like me..." It trailed off. It sounded like it was deepening its voice slightly to sound different.

"I mean, not entirely, but, pretty damn close. Is this what we look like when we go to the surface? I thought that..." He trailed off. Cooper snapped out of his trance as the other Fish Person swam around him. He took notice of the clothes he was wearing. They looked like a mock up of what the gods would wear, cream cloth Wrapped around his hips and top. Something was slightly off though. Some of his scales were a lighter purple color rather than the majority dark blue grey he was.

"What's with y-" Cooper started, but was cut off when shouting could be heard. "Princess (Deadname)!" A look of panic went over his face. "Shit- Hide!" He said shoving Cooper slightly as he swam away and hid, still being able to hear what was happening.

"What on earth are you doing out here?" The woman said. "Nothing mother I was just exploring-" He started, but was interrupted by a sigh. "Are you still deepening your voice? stop that. And why do you keep darkening your scales?"

The woman kept nagging him as Cooper was lost in thought. 'Princess? Deepening Voice? Wait, is he-' He thought before he heard someone swim off. "You still there?" He asked. Cooper swam out. "Sorry about that, mom doesn't like outsiders." He said, his voice going back to a more feminine pitch. "Are you ok?" Cooper asked. He look upset at his question and sat on a rock that sat jutted out from the canyon walls. "Not really. I've tried explaining to her how I feel but she keeps dismissing it. Keeps saying it's some phase. But a phase doesn't last 5 years, y'know? She still doesn't know I got rid of, well, y'know, which Is why I still wear these drapes like this." He said as he looked down and blew a few bubbles.

"Come with me."

He looked up in surprise at what Cooper had said. "What? But how? I can't go on the surface, I'll die." He said. "Can't Fish Folk go partially human and go on land?" Cooper said. "Not for years. Not when great grandma Bella banned the magic that let's us do that. Everyone's forgotten how." No order he hadn't seen anyone like him. He had learned how to do the land walker spell when he was younger by his parents after they fled.

"I could teach you?" Cooper said. "Woah woah, slow down, I don't even know your name," He said as Cooper held out a slightly webbed hand. "Cooper," He said as he grabbed Cooper's hand. "(Y/N)," He said.

"Cooper! There you are! You get the fish?" Ted asked as his friend Jumped out if the water, fish in hand. "Uh, that's not all..." He trailed off as a second figure jumped out of the water, standing for a few moments before falling over. "I uh, I've never done this walking thing-" (Y/N) said as Cooper helped him up, one arm over his shoulder as he slowly started learning how to walk on very wobbly legs.

He looked similar to how Cooper did, Same fins on the sides of his head were his ears would be, same claw like webbed hands, fins on his elbows and a fish tail. "This is (Y/N), He'll uh, He'll be traveling with us, if thats alright," Cooper said looking at Ted and Traves.

"Well, the more the merrier! Come! Sit!" Ted said as the two Fish people smiled.
