Ian floored the gas as they made it up onto the highway, Crane and Demetri’s own car coming into view. Lucy’s black Camaro was a few hundred feet ahead, but he could clearly see it because everyone else who was on the road was starting to clear out of the way. Ian weaved his way in and out of the other drivers who didn’t have a chance to get out of the way. Brady was still on the phone with Crane and he was holding on for dear life as Ian continued to accelerate. Ian and Brady watched as Lucy’s car slammed into a blue Ford, sending it spinning towards them. Ian quickly maneuvered around it, his eyes widening when he saw the car missed them by a few centimeters.
“She’s going to kill us up here,” Brady snarled and Ian silently agreed. The chase ensued, all three cars exceeding over 110 mph. Ian tightened his hands on the wheel, his knuckles turning white. It didn’t matter how fast they were going, they still weren’t going to be able to catch up to Lucy.
“Ian do you smell that?” Brady asked with a guarded tone. Ian took a whiff and his heart plummeted into his stomach. His facial expression told Brady that he did. “Crane, you smell it too?”
“Yeah well smell it. Get ready boys. It’s about to get a little toasty up here.” Ian watched closely as something fell from the back of Lucy’s car. It was a lighter. As soon as it hit the ground, fire erupted and engulfed the entire road. Ian swerved around as the flames lashed out at him, licking the sides of his car.
“The gas leak is coming from her car!” Ian shouted as the flames continued to fan themselves, spreading faster and becoming bigger. Ian couldn’t even see Crane and Demetri’s car anymore. The smoke had completely covered up the road and the flames were everywhere. Ian swerved around a car that had exploded from the flames and finally got into a clearing. He came to a stop, sweat drops lining his forehead.
“Nice driving,” Brady said as he took deep breaths.
“Thanks,” Ian breathed. He glanced over at Brady. “She might as well blow up the entire highway overpass.” Brady looked out the windshield and narrowed his eyes.
“Yeah, just keep giving her splendid ideas.” Ian looked up as saw Lucy’s car parked a few yards ahead and she held something in her hand. She was leaning against her car and wore a bored expression on her face. She made eye contact with Ian and Brady before she smiled maliciously at them.
“Can I just say how much I hate that smile?” Brady said as Lucy pressed the button. The road underneath them began to shake and Ian slammed on the accelerator. Lucy had already gotten back into her car and the chased ensued again, but this time, they were driving from the collapsing overpass.
“Crane! Where you guys at?” Brady yelled into the phone as he watched the chunks of concrete falling just inches from their back tires.
“Just a bit ahead of you boys,” Crane responded. “Tell Ian to pick it up! That bridge is going to collapse faster than he is driving.”
Ian stepped on it, hoping to catch up to the others. Suddenly he felt the back of their car start to lean backwards. “Hell no,” Ian muttered as he pressed the pedal all the way down to the floorboard. A piece of concrete cracked in front of them as the car gained speed, and Ian used it as a ramp to get back on the road before the rubble fell hundreds of feet. Ian didn’t release his foot until he saw Crane and Demetri’s car. He took his foot off the gas to slow down when he realized they weren’t moving. They came to a stop beside them and Brady rolled down the window.“We blew a tire,” Demetri said. He narrowed his eyes. “I’ll have your asses if she gets away.” Ian sped off, leaving Crane and Demetri behind. He had a feeling they would follow through on that threat. Finally seeing Lucy’s car in view, Ian sped up and got right behind her. He watched as her eyes went to her rearview mirror and widen in shock. Lucy started to speed up and Ian kept pace with her. The front of his car nicked the back of hers, causing her to swerve a bit. The smell of gasoline hit Ian’s nostrils again, and he quickly moved to the side before the flames erupted from behind Lucy’s car. Ian pulled up beside her and Brady leaned out the window, pointing his gun at the tires.
“Last chance Lucy!” Brady yelled. “Stop the car or I’ll stop it for you!” Lucy gave them a satanic smile before they heard a loud pop. Lucy’s eyes widened in fear as her back tire blew out. Ian slammed on the brakes just in time to avoid Lucy’s swerving car. Ian’s eyes widened when he saw where the car was headed.
“She’s going too fast…!” Ian said and with horror, they watched as Lucy’s car flipped over the railing on the overpass, and fell all the way down. Ian parked the car and they got out and sprinted over to the railing. They reached the railing just in time to see Lucy’s car explode, sending debris scattering all over the place.
“Lucy…” Brady muttered as they looked on in horror at the raging inferno below them.

I slowly got to my feet as I felt blood trickling down my face. Burn marks covered my arms and my torso as well as the back of my legs from the explosion. I looked over to see my car become an inferno and I smiled to myself. My body was shaking from the adrenaline and I couldn’t help but to start to laugh. Man what a rush, I thought to myself as I looked up. I saw the heads of Ian and Brady peering over and I smiled as I ducked underneath what was left of the overpass. Faking my death was all too easy. I wasn’t happy that I had to destroy my car in the process, but the damage I did do was well worth it. I knew I had a few minutes before Ian and Brady would realize it might be a sham, so I ran over to the overpass rubble and began to climb the metal poles that connected to the overpass that was still standing. My whole body was covered in black dust and in my own blood, but I would worry about my injuries later. I had my mission to accomplish. I smiled to myself, wondering which plan would be put into action.
I finally reached the top and I peered over the side to see Ian staring down over the side and Brady with his hands on his head. I rolled my eyes as they were still shocked over the simple explosion and I hoisted myself up and over the side, landing quietly on my feet. I reached into the back of my pants and pulled out my pistol, slowly walking towards them. They were facing away from me as I continued to approach. I stopped a few feet away, staring at them as they fretted over my death. I smiled arrogantly as I lifted the pistol up, pointing right at Brady’s head. My finger rested on the trigger as my smile got bigger. I was about to pull the trigger when I felt something hard and cool jam itself into the back of my head, causing me to freeze. I heard the click of the gun and Ian and Brady spun around, their eyes wide with fear and disbelief.
“Drop the gun.” I snorted at Crane’s voice. “Or I’ll blow you sky high.”
“By all means feel free,” I said as I continued to point my gun at Brady. “You still have yet to locate the President, much less find all the bombs that have been planted.” There was silence and I laughed again. “You know you need me alive.” My feet were suddenly ripped out from underneath me and I face planted on the ground. Crane’s foot slammed down on my hand that held the gun and Brady quickly disarmed me. I looked up to see Ian squatting in front of me.
“I almost believed you were dead,” he said. I smiled at him.
“And that almost got you killed, didn’t it?” I sneered. “Don’t always believe what you see.” Crane hauled me up to my feet and cuffed me as Demetri came up. Demetri looked at me with a disgusted gaze before looking at Ian.
“We had a feeling she would try to pull a nasty stunt. Here’s our proof. Sorry we used you boys as bait.”
“Bait?!” Brady shouted. “We almost died!”
“But you didn’t,” Demetri said with a sadistic smile. “Anyways, we got her now. Let’s get back to base and see if we can get anything out of her. She’ll be riding with us.” I looked over my shoulder as Crane led me to the car and I saw Ian and Brady looking at me. Crane shoved me into the car and sat beside me as Demetri got behind the wheel. They took off at a slower pace, Ian and Brady following in their own car. I looked out the window as the buildings passed by, my smile growing wider on my face. I glanced over at Crane and saw his expressionless face, but his eyes had the glint of victory in them. I let my eyes drift back over to the window, knowing that Dr. Vaun would have taken Ian and Brady's mothers back to the Division One headquarters for safety. So this is the plan I get to work with, I thought as my smile turned violent. Things were about to get interesting.
