Lucy sat in the back of Cody’s car, her eyes staring at the floorboard as they loaded up Bruce and his cronies. Ian glanced over and saw Lucy staring off into space that he didn’t even hear Cody come up behind him.

“It’s just like that day,” Cody whispered and Ian jumped, startled by Cody’s voice. Recovering, Ian responded as he turned his attention back to Lucy.

“What do you mean?” he asked. Cody heaved a sigh.

“When we bought her,” Cody said quietly. “She wouldn’t stop looking at the ground. Her eyes were vacant. She was like in a whole other universe.” Ian looked over and watched Lucy. They were arresting Bruce and taking him away in the cop cars. Ian had told them where they could pick up Alexander. Cody seemed to have a deep hatred for that man and Ian couldn’t blame him. Even Lucy reacted differently. But I bet Lucy has a damn good reason to torture a man like that. Ian shook his head as he tried to get the image out of his head. What if Lucy’s memory did return? What would happen to her? Or what would happen to the Third Division? Brady walked up to him and nudged him in the arm with his.

“She going to be okay?” he asked and Ian shook his head very slowly.

“I don’t know Brady,” Ian whispered. “I don’t know.”

Lucy was sitting in a room looking through the thick glass into the interrogation room. Alexander Fernandez was sitting in there with a smug look on his face. Lucy knew he couldn’t see her, but she had a feeling that he knew she was there. She was feeling angry and she didn’t know why. She glared spitefully at him. The door opened and Lucas walked in, Alexander turning to face him. Cody walked up and Lucy turned around to see Brady, Ian and Hunter standing behind her. She crossed her arms and gave them a cold stare.

“Who is that man, and how does he know me?” Lucy hissed and she saw them stiffen up. She dug her nails into her arms to hide her frustration.

“That man is of no concern,” Hunter said as he walked forward. He placed his hand on her shoulder. “You did your job. You got the people the government was after.” Lucy cringed at that and yet again, she didn’t know why.

“It’ll be okay, Lucy,” Cody said as he smiled and Lucy rolled her eyes and looked away.

“Come on,” Hunter said. “Let’s go get something to eat. It’ll take all that uneasiness away.” Lucy froze. She started shaking uncontrollably, and anger rose to the extreme. Lucy drew her gun and pointed it directly at Hunter before she knew what she was doing. Hunter and everyone backed off, their hands in the air.

“Whoa, Lucy!” Hunter said wide-eyed.

“What are you doing?” Cody said anxiously. Lucy’s finger was on the trigger as her hands started shaking.

“Why,” she asked through cracked lips. “Why do I hate you and that man in there?” Lucy was shaky and her voice was uneasy. They all stared at her dumbfounded. All except Hunter; he was looking at her evenly. Cody took a step towards Lucy and she turned the gun on him. He stopped in his tracks.

“Lucy, listen very carefully,” Hunter said as he licked his lips. Lucy’s eyes scooted over to him. “This is what he does. He messes with people’s minds and drives them insane. That’s what he is doing to you right now.” Lucy lowered her gun an inch as she continued to look at Hunter. “Don’t let that bastard win okay? Just snap out of it.” Lucy allowed her breathing to slow and she lowered her gun. Everyone exhaled in relief. Lucy looked back over her shoulder towards the interrogation room. She didn’t believe what Hunter said. Something was telling her that she knew him—and rage was starting to envelope her. Lucy couldn’t take it anymore as Alexander smiled at the glass. She slammed open the door, ignoring the shouts coming behind her. She busted into the interrogation room and Lucas and Alexander looked up at her.
