Ian stood out on the balcony with his phone in hand, waiting on the call he was supposed to be receiving from Lucas. He had gotten a text the other day that Lucas was coming up with a plan to help out with Lucy. Ian narrowed his eyes as he stared out at the busy streets. His anger for Hunter was increasing; but it helped that Lucy was starting to come around. She was learning exactly what things were and how to interact with others before she pulls a gun on them. Ian didn't want this mission to be over. He felt the urge to protect Lucy, and he definitely didn't want to send her back only to have her memory messed with again. Brady walked out and leaned against the wall.
"How's Lucy?" Ian asked without turning around.
"She's glued to the TV watching Disney," Brady said with a light chuckle. Ian smiled to himself. To him, Lucy seemed like a three-year old trapped inside her 19 year-old body. Ian's phone went off and Brady walked outside, quietly shutting the door behind him as Ian answered.
"Alright boys listen up," Lucas said and they huddled around the phone. "I've got Cody on board with helping Lucy."
"Cody?" Ian said. "Isn't that Hunter's right hand man?"
"Yeah," Lucas said. "He objected to what Hunter did in the first place. I'm sending you a video later once I get it copied. It's what Lucy was like before they used Window on her."
"How did you get access to that?" Brady asked astonished.
"Cody is putting down his firewall to allow me access before Hunter notices," Lucas explained. "If we want to help Lucy, we have to get her away from Hunter. Now listen boys, there is something I have to tell you of what Cody told me." Ian and Brady leaned in, anxious to hear it. "Lucy was not donated, but bought from a child collection agency."
"The Black Market," Ian breathed and Brady tightened his hands into fists.
"The video will show you how she was before she was brought there," Lucas continued. "However, even though Window was used on Lucy to get rid of her memories, Cody told me that there is a gap that is missing. A gap that Window couldn't even pick up."
"A gap?" Brady asked.
"Whatever happened to Lucy during her stay before Cody and Hunter picked her up was so horrific that she herself locked it away. But this means that that memory is still inside her mind. If that memory resurfaces, your orders are to clear out."
"Clear out as in to leave her?" Ian hissed and he heard the sigh on the other end of the phone.
"Yes, Ian, that is what I mean," Lucas said. "Cody explained that Lucy is terribly violent because of the way she was trained. But I also know that she has survival instincts in her and those can turn into a new level of violence."
"Even Cody is wary of her memories returning," Brady stated.
"Exactly my point," Lucas said. "Hunter is not concerned with it, however, as days go by, Lucy could very well see things that will trigger that memory. When that happens, all hell will break loose."
"Then why does she act like this?" Ian asked. "She acts like a little kid, not a murderer!"
"Ian, this is my theory from what I've learned from Cody," Lucas explained. "They got Lucy when she was three and then Hunter took her memory. Somewhere deep inside of her is the three-year-old that experienced that trauma. In the back of Lucy's mind, she is a three-year-old because her childhood was taken, no, more like stolen from her. That's why she acts like that. But when it gets down to business, that cold-hearted killer that Hunter trained her to be will come out. I'm sure you boys will see it eventually."
