Debris laid scattered in the street as a bomb had gone off hours prior to the cleanup crew's arrival. Ian got out of the car and looked at the scene. Five years had gone by since Lucy's conviction and they were finishing up cleaning the bombs Lucy had planted. The chain reaction happened in year three of Lucy's imprisonment and the entire country had pitched in to help with the disaster. Murders from people who were terrified from Lucy's epidemic escalated in the first year Lucy was put away. Ian admitted he hated seeing Lucy was right; even with her gone, chaos would still tear at the souls of men. Crane was now running the show until a new president would be selected and Cody was working with Brady on putting the horrors that defined Lucy out of commission for good. They wanted to heed Lucy's warning about her being the beginning. Lucas was in charge of all of the BlackOp organizations now. They had decided to combine all of the programs into one, to avoid any other unwanted situations.
Ian's phone began to ring and he answered on the second ring.
"What's up?" Ian answered and he smiled when he heard Brady's voice.
"Hey Bud, where are you at?"
"In the middle of nowhere it seems like. What did you need?"
"We need you to come to Lucy's father's headquarters. We found something you're not going to like." Ian stood frozen to the spot.
"What do you mean?" he asked.
"It'll be easier to show you." Ian hung up as he got in the car and sped off. Thoughts were swirling in his head. Was there more to Lucy's story just recently discovered? Ian was curious as to what they might find. He arrived and he noticed all the cleanup crews present here. They were removing bodies from the area and Ian shook his head. Underneath where Lucy was held when she was little was a burial site of hers recently found. Ian walked into the building and Brady met him at the entrance.
"We found another room, underneath her father's office," he said, not wasting anytime filling Ian in. Ian followed and looked at the trap door in the office. Brady gestured for him to follow and they walked down the metal steps. In the room was another large TV screen on the northern wall, and tubes filled with a blue liquid were on each side of the room. Human bodies were in them, and the bodies themselves looked as if they had been drained of their insides. A red light was blinking in the middle of their stomachs, almost as if a device had been planted in them. Ian noticed Cody sitting at a computer, running through files found.
"What's all this?" Ian asked and Cody answered.
"A new experiment," Cody said as he turned around and looked at Ian. He tilted his head towards the tubes. "There's a new bomb that feeds off of people and has an even more powerful burst to it. It was recently developed."
"Recently developed?" Ian asked confused. "But that's impossible. Lucy's been in prison for years. She can't get out."
"It's not her," Cody said. He held out his hand and Ian saw a small flash drive in his palm. "She had this."
"And what is that?" Ian asked as fear gripped his stomach.
"My old flash drive with inscriptions and codes for the Pentagon, as well as the BlackOp agency. Also crucial information for the program Windows was on here."
"And?" Ian pressured and Cody's expression fell.
"Someone's been using it." Cody pointed over to the corner and Ian followed his direction and his eyes widened. In the corner was someone's living area; a small bed, food and bottles of water. "And they've been using it frequently. They're developing these bombs."
"We have the flash drive though," Ian said and Cody sidestepped so Ian could see the computer. To his horror, he saw the words 'DOWNLOAD COMPLETE' on the screen.
"They've transferred their research and everything on my flash drive to another," Cody said. Ian stood there in a complete loss. Then something occurred to Ian.
"Call Crane," Ian said as he looked down at the ground, his eyes narrowing.
"Why Crane?" Brady asked. Ian looked at him.
"Because we need to visit someone."
"No," Brady said immediately. "She's not supposed to have contact with anyone else. We can't just go in and ask her Ian."
"We have too," Ian said. He looked at both of them. "The day we left her, she said sparing her life might benefit us in the future. I disregarded what she said because I thought we only had the cleanup to do. Now, I think I know exactly what she means."
"Lucy may know who it is," Cody said as he pulled out his phone. "I'll see if Crane will pass it."
Cody left the room as he made the phone call and Brady walked up to Ian. "If Lucy has something to do with this—"
"She doesn't," Ian said. "How can she? She's been locked up this entire time."
"If Crane doesn't pass it, we'll never know," Brady whispered.
"Let's pray Crane wants to knock this out fast," Ian muttered. Cody came back down the stairs.
"We've got thirty minutes to speak with her and our plane leaves in an hour. Let's go." Ian and Brady wasted no time. They headed to the airport to the private plane that would get them to Lucy's secure location, completely off the map in case crazy people tried to break her loose.
They arrived at the giant cemented building and walked inside. The guards there were marines, and they allowed Cody to pass when he showed them Cranes insignia. They followed a marine down the hallway into an empty room. Ian sat down in one of the chairs prepared for them. They sat in silence until another door opened and two marines walked in with Lucy following them. She had lost weight, almost too where they couldn't find her in the orange jumpsuit. She seemed at peace with herself as the marine pointed to her seat. She sat down in the chair opposite them and her smile set them on edge. She knows why we're here, Ian thought.
"You have thirty minutes," the marine said before he closed the door. Lucy's hands, bound by handcuffs, stretched above her head before she smiled at them again.
"Now this is a surprise," she said.
"Not expecting us?" Brady said calmly. She gave them a sarcastic look.
"I expected you about a year ago," she said. She looked down at the ground before looking up at them again. "You found something, didn't you?" Cody pulled out pictures and handed them to Lucy. She looked them over as he spoke.
"We found this room today, with my old flash drive," Cody began and Ian saw the smile on Lucy's face grow. "How did my flash drive end up down there?"
"Well when I tried to kill you and Lucas came to your rescue, I took it with me when I fled," Lucy answered as she shuffled through the photos. She paused and looked up, a smirk coming to her face. "You think it was me."
"Did you have anything to do with turning humans into bombs?" Cody asked. Lucy handed the pictures back to him.
"How could I?" Lucy answered innocently. "I've been locked up for years."
"Did you?" Cody asked again and Lucy smiled at him.
"No," she answered simply. "But I know who did," she purred and Cody raised an eyebrow.
"You had an accomplice?" he asked in shock.
"Hell no," Lucy said, laughing at the mere thought. "No, I didn't. I just know who you're dealing with."
"Who is it Lucy?" Ian asked. Lucy smiled at him.
"They won't go public, so you'll have one hell of a time finding them," Lucy responded. "It's a good thing you kept me alive after all."
"You knew this would happen," Brady said.
"I had a haunch it would," Lucy admitted. "If you had killed me, you would have no idea where to begin."
"Lucy, who are they?" Ian asked. Lucy leaned forward and smiled wickedly at him.
"I think it's time you learned about Kylie."
