Lucas used every muscle in his body to hold Ian back, who was blinded by rage from what Lucy had just revealed. He, too, was boiling with rage but he couldn’t let that get to him. He was not going to let Lucy win.

“Where are they?” Brady hissed violently, his whole body shaking from head to toe. Lucy shrugged her shoulders.

“Beats me,” she said wickedly. She put her finger to her chin as she mocked them. “I wonder which now holds the most importance. Family, or the President?”

“I’ll kill you if you harm one hair on my mother’s head,” Ian threatened and Lucy laughed at him.

“I’ll tell you a secret,” she said. “If you want to win the game, you must first outwit me.”

“Outwit you?” Lucas snarled as he struggled to hold Ian back. Lucy turned her gaze to him.

“Good to see you again, Lucas,” she sneered. “I remember the last time I saw you. A splendid performance on faking your death.”

“I’ll show you death,” Ian snarled and Lucas’ face was turning red from the effort. Lucy crossed her arms.

“Oh let him go Lucas,” she mused. “He’s probably more pissed off that I fooled him.” Guards came piling into the room and they restrained Lucy. Cody lowered his gun and looked at Lucas.

“Get every man you can and have them inform all the other officials in the Pentagon about the states blowing up.”

“We…don’t know which…ones they are though,” Lucas gasped out as he still struggled with Ian.

“It won’t matter,” Cody said glaring at Lucy. “By the end of the day, she could have the whole country rigged.”

“Man you’re catching up,” Lucy mocked and a guard slammed her in the shoulder with the handle of his gun.

“Ian get AHOLD OF YOURSELF!” Lucas shouted and Ian finally stopped struggling and Lucas released him. They dragged Lucy out of the rooms in chains and Lucy looked at Ian.

“Hey, Ian,” she called and he looked over his shoulder at her. “Want me to tell you how your mother screamed and begged for your little sister’s life?” Ian’s eyes widened. “It was too melodramatic for me. Maybe your mom should join the opera—“Ian’s fist connected with Lucy’s jaw. Brady lunged forward and grabbed Ian and hauled him off before he could get another shot in. Lucy looked up and smiled at him, her lip bleeding.

“We need to let the other men know,” Lucas said. He looked at the guards restraining Lucy. “Take her down to the basement and lock her in one of the cells down there. I’m tired of looking at her.”

“Yes sir!” they said in unison. Brady walked down the hallway, heading towards the Secretary of Defense so they could inform the Pentagon.

“Cody, Lucas,” Lucy said quietly. They looked at her as she met their gaze. “Not everything ends like a Disney movie. There are no happily ever afters. For example, I believe there is no happily ever after for the Secretary of Defense.” Realizing her threat, Cody and Ian bolted for the Secretary as Lucas ordered for Lucy to be locked away. Brady’s scream caught their attention as they burst through the door to find the Secretary twitching on the ground and foaming at the mouth.

“What’s wrong with him?!” Cody shouted as he fell to his knees.

“I, I don’t know!” Brady said. “All of a sudden he collapsed!” Cody stared down as he watched the light leave the Secretary’s eyes. His whole body stiffened up. If you want to win the game, you must first outwit me.

“She planned this too,” Cody whispered as he looked up at Lucas, who just came in the door. He got to his feet. “Call your families and see if she was really telling the truth. I’m going to talk to her.” Cody ignored the comments as he ran down the hallway. He reached the entrance to the basement just before Lucy was being dragged down.

“Wait!” he commanded and the guards halted. Lucy turned and smiled at him. Cody grabbed her collar of her shirt and slammed her up against the wall. “You already planned his death didn’t you?” he growled. Lucy chuckled.

“You wouldn’t have been able to save him anyway,” she choked out and Cody dropped her. Lucy landed with a thud and looked up at him.

“What did you do to him?” Cody said as he squatted down and looked her in the eye. When Lucy didn’t respond he slapped her across the face. “WHAT DID YOU DO?” he yelled.

“When I captured him,” Lucy said as a hand mark defined on her face. “I already put the drug in him. It was a bacterial drug that I designed myself.” Cody’s face went blank as he registered this. “It only becomes lethal when he triggers it,” Lucy continued. She smiled. “He had a favorite wine, did he not?” Cody took a step back and stared at Lucy as if she was a monster. “Like I said Cody,” Lucy said. “The human brain is a powerful weapon. If you want to win, outwit me.” She said her last sentence as a challenge and Cody looked to the guards.

“Lock her up. Give her no inch and if she gives you trouble, beat her.” Cody walked down the hallway as the guards hauled Lucy away. He walked into the room and saw Ian, Brady and Lucas on the phone. All three of them were wearing grim expressions.

“It’s true,” Ian whispered as his hand fell to his side. “I can’t get ahold of them.”

“Same here,” Brady said as he punched the wall. Cody stared at them and saw helplessness creep in.

“We can still win this thing,” Cody said. “We find the states she has rigged and once we remove it, we’ll execute her.”

“You want us to kill her now?” Ian said. Cody hung his head.

“I don’t see another option,” he whispered sadly.

“All we have to do is outwit her,” Lucas said as he put his phone down. “If we outwit her and we capture her, we can put her in lockdown. That way if we don’t find the bombs, she still won’t be able to set them off.”

“How is she planning on getting the rest of the country rigged with bombs anyway?” Brady asked. The room went dead quiet. They all slowly raised their heads and looked at each other with horrified expressions.

“Holy shit,” Brady said as his face paled.

“Outwit her,” Lucas said. He looked to Cody. “The basement…” They didn’t hesitate; they turned and ran towards the basement. “The son of a bitch wanted to be put there!” Lucas yelled. They ran down the steps and slammed open the door. The sight before them stopped them in their tracks. Blood covered the ground like a lake and they saw body parts hanging from the ceiling from the guards that were assigned to her.

“I’m going to vomit,” Ian said as he looked around. He walked in, avoiding the legs, arms, torsos, and heads that hung from the ceiling. They were attached to the ceiling by human hair, and Ian didn’t even want to imagine where Lucy had gotten all of that.

“She mutilated the guards,” Brady said as he followed. Lucas walked over and turned on the light.

“Mother Fucker,” Cody said as they saw the message on the wall. On the wall were fingers and toes aligned in the words ‘First Outwit Me’. The worst part about it, however, was that Lucy was nowhere to be seen.
