Ian rested his head against the back of the wall with his eyes closed, his nerves finally calming down. After the chase that happened on the highway, they had brought Lucy back to headquarters and she now sat in an interrogation room, just like before. Only this time they were not going to be taking her lightly. Cody had come to the conclusion that she was beyond saving. What pissed Ian off more was the fact that his mother still refused to look at him. He understood that she was in a tight situation and couldn’t talk, but he wanted her to at least make eye contact with him. The same thing was going on with Brady. His mom wouldn’t look at him either. Ian opened one eye when he heard voices coming down the hallway and Lucas came into view.

“You need to come join us Ian,” he said and Ian sighed heavily as he got to his feet. He followed Lucas down the hall and into a separate room. Dr. Vaun, Cody, Brady, Crane and Demetri were already sitting down. Ian took his seat beside Brady and Lucas sat back down in his chair.

“What’s up?” Ian said as he leaned against his hand. They had been in conference for hours, trying to figure out what Lucy was actually planning. Ian had left for a breather an hour ago and he was curious as to what he had missed.

“Nothing new unfortunately,” Crane hissed as he glared at Dr. Vaun.

“He’s limited on what he can say,” Brady reminded him.

“Dr. Vaun, we understand Lucy did something. Can you give us any hints?” Cody pressured again. Dr. Vaun looked at the ground.

“I can say this, but I’m sure Ian and Brady are already aware of it. If their mothers so much as utter one syllable, their siblings will be killed.”

“How though?” Demetri asked. “Lucy is in custody.”

“That hasn’t stopped her before,” Cody muttered as he rubbed his temples. He looked over at Crane. “You couldn’t get anything out of her?”

“I went as far as I could,” Crane said. “I stopped when she started coughing up blood. She didn’t say anything; she just smiled at me.” Dr. Vaun shifted uncomfortably and Ian raised an eyebrow at him.

“Doc, are there any hints that you can give us?” he asked.

“Lucy gives hints in what she says,” Dr. Vaun answered cautiously. “She plays a mind game.”

“We knew that the first time we had her in custody,” Lucas said as he crossed his arms and leaned back in his chair. “What’s different this time?” Dr. Vaun opened his mouth to say something, but then he closed it again. A knock sounded at the door and a soldier walked in and looked at Lucas.

“Sir, she’s clean. There’s nothing on her.”

“What did you get from her?” Lucas asked.

“Two pistols, a wasp knife and a bone necklace,” the soldier replied. “Nothing more.”

“Is she awake?”

“Yes sir.”

Lucas dismissed the soldier and looked back to the group as he shut the door. “Our little demon is awake again.”

“Have we checked the missing persons report?” Cody asked. Brady reached down and picked up a thick file and plopped it down on the table.

“Yeah we did. Compared to her seventy-five that were missing about three weeks ago, the number we now have has risen to three hundred and fifty.”

“Shit,” Demetri said. “This girl gets busy.”

“For a reason,” Dr. Vaun added in. Ian looked at him.
