Resisting Temptation

Chapter 13

It was awkward the following morning. Elle and Seth were sitting in their own booth with coffee, I was working the morning shift behind the counter, Connor was sat in his own booth looking out the window but tapping his foot frustrated while Jake was sat at the bar trying his best to get my attention.

Emma had passed out last night just as Connor found out she was his mate. I doubt she'll remember when she wakes up and I'm not looking forward to that moment. After what she told me on my first day of school, she's not going to be too happy.

I walked over to a human couple who were sat in far table and gave them their coffee before going over to Connor's table.

"Here." I said handing him his smoothie. None of us have slept, we've had too much on our mind.

"Thanks." He grumbled not looking at me.

"I still think you shouldn't be here when she wakes up." Trying to get him and Jake to leave last night was next to impossible. Speically when one of them had Alpha blood.

"I'm not leaving." He said forcefully. I saw Jake tense his jaw when he heard how Connor spoke to me. I ignored him, like usual.

"You'er going to have to understand that Emma's been through a lot, it might take her a while to get used to this idea. Of the two of you." I said softly.

"How would you know what she's been though." He asked looking at me with cold eyes.

"I'm her friend, she told me. Trust me Connor, I'm doing this for you as well."

"Don't you think you should focus on your mate instead of mine." He glared.

"Thats a different story. And no, Emma's my friend. I care about her so right now she's my main priority." I said getting up but he called me back.

"I'm sorry, I appreicate what your doing but you have no idea what this bond is like." He started saying but slowed down.

"Oh, I know. Trust me." I said going back behind the counter.

"Autumn." Jake said but I just walked through the back of the room.

"Autumn?" I heard Emma say from the middle of the stairs. "What happened?" She asked and I laughed.

"You got drunk." I stated.

"I did?!" She asked shocked rubbing her forehead.

"You ok?" I asked.

"Yeah, should go in a couple of minutes. Quick healers wolves. So, did I miss anything?" She asked and I looked down at my hands wondering if I should tell her or if Conor should. "Autumn." She said trying to force it out of me.

"What was the last thing you remember?" I said looking back up at her.

"Dancing. Oh gosh, I embarrassed myself so much!"

"So you don't remember Connor and Jake turning up?" I asked and she looked wided eyed at me.

"Why weren't they at his party?" She asked nervously.

"Jake wanted to see me." I rolled my eyes.

"What else?" I didn't say anything. "Autumn, please."

"Emma, Emma!" I called after her when she went through to the cafe. I almost ran into her, she had stopped frozen.

"No." I strained to hear her. "Autumn." She tore her eyes away from Connor who was now stood up, watching her intensely. "Autumn." She pleaded with tears in her eyes. I opened my mouth but didn't know what to say. She quickly ran back through and up the stairs.
