Lucy was right. You lost track of time being stuck in a cell with nothing to do. You didn't know if time was going quickly or way too slow. I'd been here for about four days now judging by the little sunlight I had. Other than Lucy and Ivan, only one guy came in, dropped off our food, took us to the toilet and left.
I'd tried talking to him, obviously but he wasn't listening. Ivan told me it was useless but I couldn't give up hope. Not yet. If I didn't have that, then what else would I have? I would have given up and the moment that happens will be the moment I die.
I still felt tired and weak with the sliver chain burning my wrist. The sliver and wolfs bane should have been washed out of my system by now so I didn't know why I wasn't getting my strength back. More strength meant being able to turn, turning meant better chance of escape.
So what was happening to me?
Lucy began humming in the cell next to me and I let her soft voice sooth away my worries. Jake's face popped into my mind and I felt tears rolling down my face. Looking back, I wished I'd given him a chance, I wish I'd given in to the temptation of being with him.
It sucked when you realise you should have done things differently. If I had, maybe I wouldn't be in this mess. But if I hadn't, I wouldn't have found out about Lucy or Ivan. They had mates and families too, they just had more time to accept fate then I had.
Before I could continue scowling myself the door opened and the same guy came in dropping off our lunch...or was it evening now? He left soon after and I scooted closer to the glass of water. My throat felt like it hadn't touched water in months.
I brought the glass back so I wasn't pulling on the chain and brought it to my lips but quickly stopped myself. Something wasn't right. I lifted the glass higher to the light and found it had a faded sliver colour to it.
"Damn." I muttered quietly but it still echoed.
"What's wrong?" Lucy's voice came through the walls.
"They've put the sliver and wolfs bane in the water. That's how they're keeping us weak. We get thirsty so we drink whatever not paying attention to what we're actually drinking." I muttered and then I heard the chain rattle before Ivan grunted.
"Sly bastards. How'd you know?"
"It sparkled in the sun." Wow, that sounded lame. "I caught a glimpse at the right angle."
"So what?" Lucy asked. "We either drink poison or dehydrate ourselves?"
"Don't drink it." Ivan said sternly. "Pour it out in a corner or something but not so they'll notice. We only need to pull this off for a day before we should be able to turn. Once we do, we can have a pretty good shot of getting out of here."
I did exactly what he said and hoped to god it worked.
Jake's P.O.V
"Sorry dude, we've checked the grounds. Nothing." That was just one of the many packs I've called trying to find a location on Autumn. Nobody had anything. I tried another pack, and another.
"Hey man." I didn't look up as Connor and Seth walked into the room. "You need to take a break." I stood up and glared at him.
"No." It came our harsh but I didn't care. I had to find her.
"You can't keep yourself in this state. You need to sleep, eat and a shave wouldn't do any harm. You have to keep a clear mind." Seth spoke this time.
I didn't want a clear mind, I didn't want to stop. If I did then I felt like I was letting her down, like I was giving up and forgetting. I wouldn't. We found Seth's car at a diner just out of town but nobody in the place would talk. Not one.
