"Good morning, sweetheart." I stirred, noticing the hybrid sitting at the end of my bed.
"How did you-" My brain flashed back to last night, Klaus saving Caroline before leaving without a trace. "Just because you've been invited in doesn't mean you get the freedom to be creepy."
I heard him chuckle. "Well, love, it is 9 am, and your two healthy best friends are on a trip to find the witch's mother, which means I have ample time to talk to Stefan, and I'd like you to come with me."
I furrowed my brows. "Why do I have to come with you?"
"Well, love, after the events with Elena last night, I've figured that 'crazy Stefan' will go to all lengths to find my weakness, and I would prefer that he doesn't use you as leverage. The only way I can ensure that you are safe is when I'm close enough to protect you, meaning that I require you to come with me." He looked at me expectantly. "Come on, go throw on your makeup and dresses or whatever you do in the mornings."
I sighed, throwing the blankets off of myself before walking over to my suitcases, pulling out my outfit for the day. I could feel his eyes on me with every movement I made. "You don't have to stare. There's no one getting in here."
"Why are you living out of suitcases, love?"
"Well, I was supposed to get a job once I moved here so I could move into my own place, but since you now take up the majority of my free time, that's been impossible."
I heard him hum before I made my way into the bathroom, getting into the shower. I allowed the water to run over my face, closing my eyes. It felt nice to have a moment to myself since I'd spent what seems like the last week surrounded by people every minute of the day.
I finished showering, wrapping myself in a towel before beginning to get changed. I looked at myself in the mirror, attempting to dry my hair as much as possible with the towel before hanging it up and making my way back into the bedroom. I was met with Klaus standing in the doorway, both my suitcases in hand.
"Come on, love."
I raised my eyebrows. "What are you doing? Put my stuff down."
"Well, since I'm the reason you're stuck here, you can come to stay with me."
I laughed. "Yeah, right. As if I'm going to stay with you."
"You did it when we were finding werewolves if I'm not mistaken. And you'll actually get your own bed this time, as well as your own room."
I thought about it for a moment. I felt bad for Caroline, her tiny room felt even tinier when I was in it, and I could tell she missed being alone at night. "Fine. But this is only temporary until I get my own place."
A tight smile fell onto the hybrid's face before he began to walk to the front door. I followed behind him, pillow in hand before he made his way to his car, placing my suitcases in the trunk as well as my pillow. It closed with ease before he walked to the passenger side of the car, opening to door for me. I sat down, him closing the door behind me before entering his side in an instant, starting the ignition. We drove in silence, arriving at the mansion I had spent large amounts of time at in the past month. He exited quickly, opening the door for me before grabbing my bags out of the trunk and leading me inside.
"You can go upstairs and pick any of the empty rooms you wish. I'll have someone pick up some furniture for you while we're out today." I nodded, making my way up the stairs before looking through the doors, spotting a bedroom, which I assumed to be Klaus', as well as a study that had art supplies strewn around inside.
I walked a few more doors down to the end of the hallway, finding a beautiful room with a fireplace and two windows, one having a bump-out seat. I entered and could immediately tell it was perfect, the small size is similar to the room I had at my old place in Nevada. The walls were covered in beautiful wallpaper, featuring some type of greenery, as well as soft white carpet.
