Chapter 25
"So, I'm hosting a party this weekend. And I'm really hoping to see you there. Many of my friends will be there but also most of the football team. Of course, now that you're available Wyatt, I do have a couple of friends who would love to see you there as well!" Constance winked at Wyatt who rolled his eyes and stuffed food into his mouth.
"Yea, I bet you do," he mumbled and got up to throw away his tray. Constance turned her attention back to Jace, ignoring the tension radiating from the whole table.
"Well, even if he doesn't want to come, you and Sterling are invited. I have this massive pool and a jacuzzi, and my dad has a large variety of drinks in his cabinet. He won't know any of them are missing." Jace sat straight in his seat, a scowl on his face as he attempted to tune out the unwelcomed guest.
Wyatt came back to sit down, leaning back in his chair as he nonchalantly glanced over at Eve, who was texting away on her phone and talking to this guy about a class assignment.
"Do you have any time after school to meet up so we could finish this project. I have a big game this weekend and I would really like to have most of it finished." He said and Eve brushed her hair behind her shoulder, looking up at him with an annoyed face.
"We both know that it's mostly finished already. And I told you that I wouldn't mind finishing the rest on my own."
"Yea, but I'd feel like one of those assholes that doesn't do anything for himself."
"Believe me, you're not. But what you are doing is irritating me. You may not be a lazy asshole, but you are an irritating one, now go away." She flicked her hand in a dismissive gesture and turned back to her phone. Hearing chuckling, we glanced in Wyatt's direction who had a smug look on his face staring at the guy.
"What are you laughing at Wyatt?" The guy sneered at him. "At least I didn't get dumped by the hottest chick in this school." Eve glared at him and at Wyatt, not saying anything.
"I may have gotten dumped but at least I'm not being dismissed like some unneeded servant," Wyatt smirked at him. Eve sighed heavily and stood up.
"Both of you are quite irritating and I have half a mind to shut both of you up. But what good would it do me? Come on Aab," Eve grabbed her trash and I followed behind. When I glanced back at the table, Jace was staring at me, he had this peculiar look on his face that I couldn't decipher.
"What's been going on with you and almost every guy in this school?" I asked her while I put in the combination for my locker. I heard Eve take a deep breath and let it out slowly, tapping her foot against the ground.
"Bunch of idiots, the lot of them. They've been trying to get in my pants ever since they found out that I'm single." I looked at her and she had a sad frown on her face, staring at the ground.
"What's wrong with that?" She looked at me and gave me a look that said 'Don't play stupid'.
"What's wrong is that I'm not some slut looking for a rebound." She took her phone out and typed a little before putting it back in her pocket. "You, Wyatt, and I know the truth about my Cherry." I nodded my head, understanding what she meant.
"Guys! Why'd you leave us with Satan's reincarnation?" Sterling ran down the hall toward us, Jace and Myra and the others following behind.
"Sorry, I just got irritated with Wyatt and Josh," Eve apologized. The bell rang just then and we all headed to our classes.
By the time school ended, Eve's mood got worse and Constance was all of a sudden a part of the group.
"Wyatt, you should really meet some of my friends, I think they would be perfect for you." Constance clung to Jace's arm but she was looking at Wyatt. "I mean, Evelyn was an idiot to let you go, unlike my friends."
