Chapter 4: Jace’s POV

I was walking through the store trying to find some extra things for school on Monday. Since last Sunday Mom told me and Myra that we’re switching schools. I told her that was a waste of money but she insisted and Sterling said that he would switch with me, so that Myra and I aren’t alone. We apparently start classes on Monday and they asked a specific student to show us around, I wonder who he is.

I walk down the aisle and this girl bumps into me.

“Ouch! Sorry,” she said and walked around me without looking up at me.

“You should really watch where you’re going,” I tell her as she walks away. I look at her retreating back and notice how her hips sway side to side slightly. She wears clothes that look to baggy on her small, fragile body. I realize that I’m staring and turn around to go back to doing my own business with the thought of the girl tucked in the back of my mind. Then when I was done, I was on my way to the front when I bumped into the girl from before… again. She stares at my eyes and I look at her light grey eyes, they look mesmerizing. In her look, she just gives off a blank, expressionless stare. I snap out of my trance and clear my throat.

“Hope you like what you see, now get out of my face.” I rudely said.

She wipes her face and replies,” Sorry,” then she started looking around again as if looking for something or someone. She looks back up at me,” Excuse me.”

“You’re excused but you’re in MY way.” I give her one of my coldest looks, just to scare her off. The last thing I want is some spoiled little girl being rude to me or try to get me, thinking she can have everything that she wants. She probably goes to my new school; no doubt she might just start some gossip. She moves around me but then runs into someone else and she looks relieved, guess that was who she was looking for.

“Hey! There you are! You know better than to run off like that Aab, how many times do I have to tell you?” Her friend giggles to herself; I don’t see what’s so funny.

“Gee thanks, you leave me to do all the shopping, and then blame me for disappearing.” She sighs,” Let’s go, everyone’s probably wondering what’s taking us so long.”

Then her friend finally acknowledges me standing there staring at them.” Oooh, and who is this hunk?” She eyes me up and down. Yea, just what I thought.

“No one you need to bother,” then I look at the girl from before,” Learn to stop staring.” And I walk away. When I’m done paying for my stuff, I head out to my crappy but cheap car and that’s when I see the 2 girls walking towards their car.

I take another second look at them.’ Yup!’ Just what I thought. Her friend has long black hair, green eyes, and a typical ‘fashion diva,’ but don’t get me wrong, she’s hot, has a nice body but there is something missing. With the other you can’t really tell what her body looks like, but to me, she seems to have a good body too. But I wouldn’t know, I bet on Monday, I’ll be able to see what she really looks like because obviously, those are her lazy clothes. What confused me though was that when she saw me, she didn’t bother trying to straighten her hair to impress me or anything. Usually, girls will do anything to get my attention, but these girls didn’t bother, mostly. I might use them once maybe twice, if they’re good enough. But one thing’s for sure, I won’t be played, or be nice to anyone there. I’m going to be the badass of the school.

At home, I can’t seem to get that girl off of my mind. Her blank, dull grey eyes staring at my own. It kind of scared me; it was as if she could see right through me, and like she didn’t care.

“Jay, it’s dinnertime, come eat, and Sterling’s here too.” Myra said at my doorway.

“Ok, I’m on my way.” I stood up from my bed and started down the stairs.” Hey man, what’s up?” I asked Sterling.
