Chapter 21

"Oh! What's that?" Eve steered into another clothing store. She walked straight to the set of purses set out on display. Then she walked back out. "Too expensive and totally not worth it," and continued walking. But stopped outside another store before walking inside for a second and stepping back out.

We've been going up and down these halls, walking into and examining different items in the same manner for the past hour and a half. Eve said that she saved up money and was spending it today since we rarely go shopping.

"Wow, I want one!" Eve practically sprinted into the store and reached out to grab onto it but retracted her hand and slowly backed out of the store. "Not my style."

Correction, we rarely go shopping with her. Two hours passed by, and somehow, Andy ended up carrying 4 bags of things that Eve bought for the both of them, mostly herself. Andy was insistent and didn't want Eve to worry about him. He just wanted her to enjoy herself. Usually when we did go shopping with Eve, Wyatt was the one to carry her things. But poor Wyatt walked in the back, head down and his hands in his pockets. It doesn't seem that he's taking the breakup well. Unlike Eve, who hides her pain with her insistent shopping and outgoing attitude.

"AAB!" Eve smacked me upside my head. I rubbed the area, a slight throb. Did I say outgoing? I meant abusive... and loud.

"What?" I mumbled while still rubbing the spot where she hit, the throb descending into an ache.

"You weren't listening to me the first time," she huffed. But then perked up, " I asked if you were hungry. We can go and get lunch."

"Oh, yea sure," then we started towards the food court again.

I slowed down slowly, making sure Eve doesn't notice my presence leaving her side. When I got a good distance away from her, I turned and walked next to Wyatt. He didn't look up at me or say anything. He just kept his eyes on the ground and his mouth closed.

"How are you holding up Wyatt?" I asked him, but he didn't say anything. Then I bumped his shoulder and he stumbled a little. "Why aren't you talking to me?"

He mumbled under his breath, so I couldn't hear him.

"What? Say it louder," I said and bumped his shoulder again.

"Why would you want to talk to me?" He asked still looking at the ground, refusing to look at me.

"Why wouldn't I?" I asked back.

"I broke your best friend's heart, why aren't you mad?"

My gaze softened, "Wyatt, Eve may be my best friend, but you're my friend too."

Finally, Wyatt trailed his eyes over to me and I couldn't help but smile at him.

"Do you see Eve yelling at us to kick you out of the game? Or ignoring them because they invited you? No, because we both know that Eve isn't heartless. Even though she does tend to show her bitchy side to everyone else," I told him.

"But we both know she should, I deserve it." He looked over at Eve and a torn expression crossed his face before disappearing when he looked back at me.

"And what makes you say that?" I crossed my arms as I asked him.

"Aab, you don't understand," he sighed.

"Then help me understand. I know that you still care about her, that you still love her. You need to show her that, tell her that. Don't you dare let her slip through your fingers because we supposedly 'don't understand'." But Wyatt shook his head.
