Chapter 45. Never falling in love again
"I wish I was tan."
"Can't relate." Jack teases and Miguel glares at him.
"I got mom's skin tone and I sunburn the second it turns 70 out, gosh I wish I had dad's dark olive skin, why does mom have to give me all her bad traits," Miguel whines.
Sadly Miguel and I were in the same boat. I tanned easily but not before burning.
It was mainly just my face and shoulders that burned, I can't complain though cause Ollie seemed to only burn.
"Mom gave me her wide nose." Jack notes and Miguel rolls his eyes, "Same, and trauma."
Jack and I both agree to that as my grandma walks in.
"You all have my nose, wide and round" she proudly announces as she enters the kitchen.
"I think Miguel's is the smallest out of us three," I add and Miguel agrees, "Thank god."
"I like big noses," I shrug.
"How long will you be gone again?" My grandma changes the subject as she begins to heat up a pan.
"Four days, we should be back Friday night I believe."
"Who's driving again?" She asks in a worried tone as she puts some chorizo on the hot pan.
"I think Grayson mentioned something about him, Nolan, Cooper, and Axel all trading places if anyone gets tired," I explain and she seems to be put at ease with that response.
"Please call me if anything happens, and text me updates so I am not worried about you," She lectures and I nod.
Today is the day we were leaving for the trip and my nerves are so high I barely slept.
Something about the thought of being with Axel for four days makes my face feel hot.
"And have fun, be safe, Florida is a crazy place, and spring break is even crazier."
"I will don't worry grandma."
"How's the sleeping situation going? Are you and Axel sharing a room," Miguel teases wiggling his eyebrows at me and I roll my eyes, "Please, Amber and I are sharing a room, I don't know what everyone else is doing though."
"Did you pack sunscreen?"
"Yes, I'm pretty sure I packed everything."
Pretty sure.
I am always prone to forgetting something but I figured if I couldn't think of it now it couldn't be that important.
We all four turn at the knock at the door and in comes Amber with two giant suitcases in her cheery mood as usual.
"Hello, second family! It smells amazing in here," she grins and runs up the stairs with Starbucks in her hand.
"Second daughter!" My grandma greets.
"Amber my love," Miguel cheers.
"You got Starbucks?" I ask and she hands me an iced drink. "Salted caramel sweet cream cold brew for you."
My soulmate.
"I love you."
"Me or the drink?" Amber asks. Both.
"Ready to go next door? They're all outside packing Grayson's mom's van.
I nod and we say bye to my family.
I grab my black duffel bag and drink and we begin our walk to Axel's house.
"So how did studying go?" Amber throws me a look full of mischief and my cheeks immediately heat up, "I'll tell you later," I was not going to risk being heard by anyone from this distance.
