Chapter 29. Sexually active everybody
I stand in the living room for a few moments completely stunned by her question. I open my mouth but nothing comes out, "I-er that's not exactly for me to determine" I bluntly state unsure of how to answer her question.
I don't like to lie to my grandma, but I can't possibly tell her. When Miguel is ready to tell, it's his choice, but until then, I have no choice but to lie.
"I know it's not...it's just, some ladies down at the grocery store we're telling me they saw Miguel kissing a boy down at the park..." she hesitantly discloses scrambling my thoughts robbing my mind for words.
"Probably just super market rumors, he'd tell me if he was, right?" She asks and I nod "I'm sure he would" I lie straight through my teeth.
"Alright, get some sleep you have school tomorrow" She lets out a yawn pushing herself up from her chair, "Alright, goodnight gram, love you" I holler down the hall entering my room closing the door behind me.

"Carolina wake up!" Miguel shakes me for the fortieth time, "Five more minutes" I beg pulling my covers over my head, "You're running late! Let's go!" He demands ripping my blankets off and I shriek as the cold air hits me.
I hesitantly pull myself out of bed half asleep as I gather my uniform & throw myself into a shower.
The events from last night soon flood through my brain as the hot steamy water wakes me up. Quinton's sad face and shaky voice haunts me the whole time as I get ready for school, unfortunately, so does my conversation with my grandma last night. I shake away the thoughts as I trudge into the kitchen letting out a yawn rubbing my eyes.
"You look like hell" Jack chuckles as he parades into the kitchen grabbing a Gatorade and a snickers bar. I stick my tongue out at him too tired and dazed to come up with a comeback as my head drops on my table. Is an education seriously worth my sleep?
"Jack, I have to tell you something" my voice comes out as a hoarse groggy mutter as I slowly lift my head up to face him.
"Make it quick nerd" he says with a mouth full of candy, "Last night Gram asked me if Miguel was gay" Jack's eyes widen before he falls into a viscous coughing fit.
"W-w-what did you s-say?" He asks between coughs taking a swig of his blue Gatorade, "Played dumb, then told her if Miguel was he'd probably tell her" I explain dropping my head in my hands, too much emotions, too early.
Jack was quiet for once which made me slightly nervous as he sits for a moment staring into space, "We have to tell Miguel" He concludes before foot steps can be heard down the hall and in comes Miguel.
"Tell me what?" Miguel asks with bright eyes as he takes a seat at the table, how are some people morning people?
"Later" Jack awkwardly states as he walks out of the room leaving me with Miguel, coward.
Miguel turns to me with a confused expression, I let out a sigh taking a deep breath knowing that beating around the bush won't do good, "Last night grandma asked me if I thought you were into boys" I say in one breath as the color completely leaves his face.
"S-she did?" He asks after a long moment of silence and I slowly nod unable to meet his gaze. He suddenly storms out the room without further notice ignoring my calls for him racing out of the house.
I immediately pull myself out of my chair grabbing my bag about to leave my house before I hear my cell phone ring. Amber.
I hesitantly answer the phone, "Hello?" I urgently ask not exactly wanting to speak with her at the moment, "Hey how are ya?" Amber asks in a nervous odd tone, "Good, you?" I awkwardly mutter grabbing the keys to my van.
