"Good to see you again Meredith," Dr Wyatt greeted Meredith as she sat down on the couch.
"And you too...," she looked at Derek trying get a name from him.
"Dr Shepherd uhm Derek, Derek Shepherd," he stuttered sitting down beside her.
"Derek," she repeated his name, lightly smiling at him, "is there something you want to discuss first?" She asked, obviously confused by him sitting down as well.
"No. I'm just here for Meredith," he replied simply.
"I'm sorry... but you're not allowed to-,"
"No!" Meredith cut in, grabbing Derek's arm, "The only way I'm doing this if he's here," she whispered, feeling slightly embarrassed. The words came out of nowhere. It felt like someone has possessed her for just one second and took over every control she had.
It made her blush as both Derek and Dr Wyatt stared at her. She never needed anyone. She never clung to a person... not even the slightest bit.
Derek wrapped his hands around, pulling her close, her head resting on his shoulders. Her hands wrapped around his waist and they both looked at Dr Wyatt. Derek looked at her with worry and sympathy. Meredith just stared right through her. Like she was some ghost to her all of a sudden.
"Okay," Wyatt nodded and leaned back in the chair, "Tell me Meredith," she started, "why did you decide to come back?" She asked.
"I don't know... because Derek told me to," she shrugged her shoulders.
"And why do you think Derek told you to come back?"
"Ask him," Meredith turned her attention away from her and pulled away from Derek, leaning against the arm of the couch.
"I want to hear it from you," she stated.
"This is bullshit!" Meredith stood up, "I don't need this, I'm fine. Derek let's go," she grabbed his arms ready to storm out before Derek pulled her back down to him.
"Meredith," he said softly, cupping her cheeks, "it's okay, I'm here. You're not alone," he smiled at her reassuringly.
Meredith swallowed hard, trying to keep her tears back.
Dr Wyatt looked at them carefully. Observing their every movement. She has never seen anything like this. A minute ago she was freaking out. But as soon as Derek had her wrapped in his arms... she was calm and understanding.
She knew Meredith. She was one of her favourite patients. She knew who she was and knew what she wanted to become. She has her demons and has her traumas but that's what she was here for... to help her through them. But never has she seen any sort of weakness from her. Never seen her show any emotions.
The scene before her has opened so many new doors for her. Meredith was crying... well tearing up. Derek was her weak spot and that is all she needed to know to carry on and help her through this difficult time.
"Meredith," Dr Wyatt said quietly, breaking up whatever was happening between them as she dozed off a bit.
"I have nightmares," Meredith admitted as she squeezed Derek's hand. She was shaking, her heart was beating at an abnormal speed. She wasn't the one who talked and shared anything. But if it meant giving Derek the girlfriend he deserved, she would at least try.
"Are these the same nightmares you used to have?" Dr Wyatt continued as if she knew about them already.
"No... no, sometimes but there are new ones, completely different ones," Meredith told her as she clung to Derek even more.
