Things took a turn, enjoy
—————————————

Three months have passed since Derek tried to kill himself. He's been doing better then ever. His saves have gone up and is attitude to life has been so positive. It made Meredith so happy but so nervous. She started run out of excuses to be with Derek. Her usual excuse was that he's had a breakdown in the OR and she needed to be with him. But it has been three months, Tom was getting suspicious.

"Is everything okay?" Derek walked up to her sliding his hand around her waist. Meredith was looking at something out of this world in deep thoughts. "Meredith?" He leaned closer.
"Huh?" She got a bit startled, "yeah I'm fine," she went back to her charts.
"Come with me?" He said.
"What?" She looked back up at him.
"Just-," he took her hand, "come," he pulled her into an on call room. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing! Can we just go prepare for surgery?" She asked him trying shrug him off.
"Meredith!" She started walking to the door not listening to him, "Dr Grey if you walk out you are not scrubbing in!" He told her.
"Dr Grey? Seriously?!" She walked back to him.
"Yes! Do you have a problem with that?" He crossed his arms.
"No," she shook her head putting her hands up.
"So tell me what's wrong," he tilted his head.
"Oh no sir we're on second name basis, I can't tell you that information," she leaned in close to him and whispered, "that's private," she put a finger up to her mouth shushing trying to make fun of him.
"Meredith," he rolled his eyes, "you know I can't let you in the OR if you're focused on something else. You could kill the patient," he let his hands fall to his side.
"Yeah I know," she said quietly tucking a strand of hair behind her ears, looking down in embarrassment.
"Will you tell me what's bugging you?" He had his hands on his hips.

Meredith walked up to the beds and sat down, "Things have been kind of weird between Tom and I. He's trying so hard not to get jealous of our friendship and it just breaks my heart. I don't know what to do," she looked back up at him.
"You got quite a loyal boyfriend there now don't you," he laughed.
"Derek that's not helping," she rolled her eyes.
"Right sorry." He blushed sitting down beside her. "You can always bring him when we meet up. Plus I'm doing better," he started rubbing her back, "we don't have to meet up every week. I see you at work and that's plenty," he sighed.
"Thanks," she smiled at him lightly. Derek pulled her in close letting her head rest on his shoulders. "How did we get here?" She asked.
"What do you mean?" He rested his head on hers while rubbing her shoulders.
"We can't hang out freely without me feeling guilty," she gestured with her hands.
"We can, we just can't do it regularly like we used to. I mean if you think about it, it is a bit weird that we're hanging out so much!" He lifted his head up thinking about, "when was the last time you hung out with Cristina," he looked down on her.
"I don't know," she sat up straight shocked, "You're my ex-boyfriend, this shouldn't be normal," she pointed back and forth between them. "We should be at each other's throats from hatred." Her eyes sparkled a little as she looked him in the eyes.
"But we're different. When we broke up we didn't hate each other," he tried to make an excuse.
"Derek I wanted to murder you. I wanted you to feel pain. Which apparently you did," she chuckled a little.
"Rub it in would you," he acted hurt.
"Sorry," she blushed little.

"So what do you think this means?" He leaned against the end of the bed.
"What do you mean?" She leaned back on her hands.
"Let's try something okay?" He sat up straight.
"Okay!" She cleared her throat straightening her back.
"I ask you something and I want you to answer really fast," he explained. Meredith nodded as an answer. "Who's your boyfriend?" He started asking the questions.
"Tom!" She replied fast.
"Your person is?"
"Cristina!"
"Favourite drink?"
"Tequila!"
"Your mother's name?"
"Ellis!"
"If you'd need to marry someone right now, who would it be?"
"You!" She answered immediately, "oh my god!" She slapped her hand on her mouth. "Tom! I meant Tom." She had both of her hands on her face, "I don't think I like this game," she shook her head his face still mushed by her hands. Derek just sat there dumbfounded. "Derek say something!"
"I-," he was snapped back to reality. He didn't know what to say. All he could think about was pulling her close by her chin and kissing her softly on the lips. Meredith moved her head closer trying to get him to say something. Next thing she knows Derek's lips were pressed against hers. His lips tasted like chocolate from the cake he had for lunch. They were so soft and welcoming. She moved in closer, their tongues eventually collided. "Derek-," she pulled away, "this isn't right!" Their foreheads still against each other.
