Christmas day. One of Derek's favourite day of the year. This is usually when his inner child comes out. And Meredith can sense it. She's not a morning person, nor is she a Christmas person. Her past experiences with Christmas days were not too enjoyable. But she was doing this for Derek so she had to at least try.
Derek as usual was already up at dawn and was staring down at his beautiful girlfriend, soon to be fiancé. He slowly tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and bent down to kiss her cheeks.
"Hmm," she stirred in her sleep and furrowed her eyebrows.
Derek bent down again and kissed her lips.
"The sun is not even up yet, why are you up?" Meredith murmured as she buried her face into his chest.
"Because it's Christmas morning," he stroked her back.
"So?" She asked.
"So, Santa came," he said in a chirpy mood. Meredith immediately snapped her head up and looked at him.
"Derek, I really hate to be the bearer of bad news but Santa isn't real."
"I know that," he rolled her eyes, "But the kids don't so, they will be barging into this room and jumping on the bed making us get out of it so they can open their gifts."
"Can't they open them without us?"
"No," he chuckled, "Plus, Santa brought you something for Christmas too," he smirked.
"Did he now," she smiled up at him, her eyes still closed.
"He did," he bent down to kiss her lips quickly.
"Uncle Derek, Meredith," the kids came running in.
"Oh god," Meredith murmured into her pillow.
"Get up! Santa came! He came so, you have to get up so we can open presents!" Three of the kids jumped on the bed.
"Did he bring lots of presents?" Derek asked.
"He did," they nodded their head eagerly.
"Means you guys must've been really good this year."
"We were amazing!"
"Mer and I will be down in a second," he smiled at them. All of them went rushing out of the room and they could hear their little footsteps going to down the stairs.
"We are not having kids," Meredith grumbled. Derek couldn't help himself not to laugh, "It's not funny," she mumbled.
"You don't mean that," he stroked her cheek.
"No, I don't," she sight and rolled on too of him, "Let's just stay like this all day. We'll be quite and they wont even know we're here," she kissed his lips and laid her head on his chest.
"They will cause it's my year to wear the Santa hat."
"The what?" she snapped her head up.
"The Santa hat. Whoever wears it, is the one who gives out the gifts," he cupped her cheeks.
"I swear your family is right out of a hallmark film," she groaned, "Are there freshly baked cookies too that's passed around?" she rolled her eyes.
"Actually there is. Mom does the batter the day before and she just puts it in the oven the next morning."
"I was kidding," her eyes widen.
"And I wasn't," he chuckled, "Come on, let's get down there, the kids must be shaking from excitement," he sat up with Meredith still in his laps.
