"What should I pack? Should I pack something formal or something cozy? Will we be going anywhere or is it just sex! Woman talk to me!" Meredith was freaking out in her room while Cristina was sitting on her bed laughing. "Calm down Mer,"
"Don't tell me to calm down, you calm down!" She snapped at her.
"Meredith!" Cristina stood up raising her voice.
"What!" She returned the same energy.
"It's a weekend away to the wine country, don't overthink it. Bring something fancy for dinner and something comfortable for the rest of the day," Cristina finally told her the answer, laughing. Meredith's breathing started to slow down. She was looking at Cristina but it seemed like she was staring right through her. "Meredith? Are you still alive?" Cristina waved her hand in front of her face.Meredith was stirred back to reality, "Yeah. Okay, thanks," and went through her closet. She took out a large black floral swing dress and showed it to Cristina.
"You, you're kidding right?" Cristina looked at her disgusted. "That is the ugliest dress I have ever seen! Where the hell did you get that?" Cristina took it away from her.
"It was my bridesmaid dress for someone's wedding," Meredith shrugged her shoulders.
"That's funny," Cristina laughed again, thinking she's lying. But as soon as she saw Meredith wasn't joking her face dropped, "Oh, you, you're not kidding. Someone actually chose this dress?" Meredith just nodded. "Get out of the way, I'll pick something out for you, because you obviously have no taste," she pushed Meredith out the way.
"I do so," Meredith sat down on the bed.
"Uh, I'm sure you do." Cristina said sarcastically."Are you ready?" Derek came through the door that Meredith opened for him. "Yeah, I just need to pack a couple of things and we can go," she said going into the kitchen grabbing herself a glass of water. "You need a drink," she asked him.
"No I'm good, thank you."
There was a moment of awkward silence between them. They looked at each other and had no idea what to say. Which made everything so much worse. All these thoughts started running through Meredith's head. Maybe it's a mistake. If they can't talk right now what will they talk about at the resort they're staying at if they can't talk now? She cleared her throat from the knot that was stuck there and put down the glass. "I'll be right back. I need to go get my bags," she gave him an awkward smile.
"Let me help you," he offered.
"Oh no I'm good. Cristina's up there, she'll help me with things." She went up the stairs and ran into her room. "You have got to get me out of this," she begged Cristina.
"What, what do you mean?" Cristina came worried out the bathroom.
"You need to get me out of this. I just spent the last minute down there in silence, awkward silence! Cristina AkWaRd silence!" Meredith shook Cristina. "What the hell are we going to talk about for two days?!" Meredith was freaking out.
"Meredith calm down. You don't have to worry about taking, you'll be having sex all day,"
"I'm freaking out here! I don't need your sarcasm,"
"I'm not joking."
"Cris-ti-na," Meredith hit her in the arm.
"Stop! Stop hitting me. I'm not the one who's unable to talk to the person I love," Cristina stopped her from hurting her more. Meredith took a step back and stared into the nothingness. "You do love him, right?"
"Of course I do," Meredith said softly. "I, it's just, I, you know what, I'm just being stupid. Forget what I said," Meredith smiled.
"Okay..." Cristina looked at her suspicious.
