"I'm just saying. Cardio is more hardcore than peds," Cristina stated as the five them sat around the table eating lunch."No way. Peds is hardcorer!" Alex stated.
"That's not even a word," Cristina rolled her eyed.
"It is so!" Alex argued.
"Alex it's not," Izzy shook her head.
"Whatever," Alex murmured with his mouth full, "Peds is more hardcore."
"Meredith what do you think?" Cristina asked turning to her.
She wasn't listening at all. The last thing on her mind was declaring whether cardio is harder than peds. She had better things to do. Actually, she wouldn't say better because she much rather fight over specialities, but it was a bit difficult to think about that when all you can think about is when your ex-kidnapper is going to jump you.
"Huh? Oh," Meredith shook out of her trance, "I- I don't know," she said quietly.
"Are you okay Mer?" George asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine," she fake smiled.
"You don't look okay Mer," Izzy put her hand on her forehead, "You look a bit pale. Maybe you should go home and get some rest," she suggested.
"I can't. I was gone for three months, remember?" She snapped.
She didn't mean to, but every day she spent in therapy it got harder for her to hide her emotions. Now she remembers why she quit in the first place.
"Meredith," Cristina breathed.
"I'm fine," Meredith said in a calmer tone, "Just go back to your bickering," she waved them off and stood up.
She needed to find Derek. Because she was about burst. She had enough of everything and everyone. Anyone who wasn't Derek annoyed her. It took everything in her not to cause a scene.
She threw away her rubbish and fled the cafeteria as she ran through the halls to get to Derek's office. She felt a smile appear on her lips as she got closer by the minute.
Derek was sitting in his office that morning, going over some paperwork. As Meredith's, his mind was somewhere completely different. Every day he sat through therapy with Meredith. Getting a question or two himself. It almost felt like they were in couple's therapy. But that seemed kind of crazy.
He was about to stand up to go get something for lunch when his door burst open.
"Derek Christopher Shepherd!"
"Ma?" He looked at his mother surprised, "Wha- what are you doing here?" He asked.
"I was worried. I haven't talked to you over a year. You don't answer you phone. Your whole family is worried about you!" Mrs Shepherd stomped on her foot.
"I- I uhm- sorry I've been busy," he muttered, blushing a little.
"I'm sure you could've spared five minutes of your life to call and say you're not dead on the side of the road or something," Mrs Shepherds voice was calmer now.
"I'm sorry," he went over to hug her, "I'm okay."
"Yeah," she breathed, "So what's going on with you these days?"
He was about the to answer when the door came bursting open again.
"Derek," Meredith said out of breath, sounding a little desperate before she saw a tiny middle-aged woman standing before him.
"Oh... I'm sorry," she blushed from embarrassment, "I didn't know you had company," she looked at Derek quickly and started closing the door when the woman before him spoke.
