I love you

Axel

We've been coming out to this clearing for a couple of days now. So far I've taught Fayth how to shoot a gun and she is a pretty quick study. She may not be a marksman, but she could do damage if someone pushed her to it. With practice she could be deadly.

Axe throwing was something she quite enjoyed. Fencing had her in fits of giggles, but hand to hand combat training is where she thrived. She needed a little prodding to get her there but once the spark was ignited, I witnessed that fire like rage burn and take over her every thought, every move. It blazed in her eyes. I felt it against her skin. Deep, beautiful wrath.

"Again," I told her setting up for her to throw another combo.

Brice and Blain had laid out the foundation by teaching her basic self defense years ago. I was just tapping into what she knew, providing the fury she needed to twist it into offence and striking for an attack. The sweetest destruction is always delivered by the most beautiful of creatures. The meek and tender appearance of the fairer sex. Most men don't realize that a woman is far more dangerous than any man.

Her fist breezed past my face as I dodged out of the way. "Again."

She jabbed right then surprised me with a powerful left cross to my jaw. I grabbed her wrist spinning her around and posting myself above her. Her back on the cool grass. I straddled her hips and watched the quick rise and fall of her chest. She could easily get out from under me if she wanted to. My body is left open letting her know that I mean her no harm.

"Calm now, darling." I whispered brushing her hair back from her face. Her anger started to seep out of her bones and her muscled relaxed beneath me. "It's ok now. You're safe. I won't hurt you."

Her lips quivered and she adverted her gaze away from mine. Tears filled her eyes threatening to roll down her cheeks. It's been like this every day. We come out to train for a few hours, her anger builds to a peak and then as I force her to stop, she comes crashing down feeling the hurt, heartbreak, and then remorse for taking it out on me.

Little does she know; this is working according to my plan. She is opening up to me. She is becoming comfortable being vulnerable with me. It's just another step closer to her becoming mine.

"I'm so sorry." She choked out on a soft sob. "I lost control. I was just so an-angry."

"Hey," I cooed "don't do that, sweetheart. I'm fine. You're fine. I'm always going to protect you. I'll always be here for you. I'll never leave you. Don't cry, gorgeous."

She sniffled as I wiped her tears away staring into those ocean-like depths. Her eyes shifted between mine and she rolled her bottom lip between her teeth.

"I love you, Fayth" I whispered slipping my fingers into her hair to cradle the back of her head in my hand. I leaned forward; my lips drew closer to hers pausing just out of reach. I heard her draw in a deep breath. This is it. She's ready. I closed my eyes primed for her pillowy soft kiss.

"Axel, wait." My eyes snapped open as I registered pain and regret in her own. The panic that filled her voice and fear deeply seated in the pools of sapphire. Her hand softly caressed my cheek as she looked intently into my eyes.

"I can't." she whispered.

My forehead crinkled in confusion. I'm sure my eyes darkened a fraction as my lips pulled into a grimace. I looked away still holding her pinned to her spot beneath me, not willing to let her go. Anger pulsed through my veins. I had her. I was so close! "It's him, isn't it?" I asked, the word 'him' filled with so much disdain, if I could kill him with a single word the dumbass would surely be in a concrete body bag.

I didn't even have to mention his name for Fayth to look as if her heart were constricting painfully in her chest and tears streamed down her face again. "Yes and no," She said and I could hear the honestly in her voice. Our gaze met intensely. "Are you scared?" I asked on a whisper. She nodded her head slowly.

"Since Blain, all I see is danger." I looked at her in confusion. Did he tell her why he was leaving her? Does she know about the texts? I'll kill him slowly. He can't ruin this for me, not now. Not now that I have her to myself! "What danger?" I asked feigning confusion.

"I'm in danger of falling again. I'm in danger of having my heart broken, replaying the whole scene from history. B picked me up from my heartache. He fixed it. He made me fall for him and just when things were looking like they could be forever, he walked away leaving me broken. I don't think I could do that again. I can't put my heart on the line. I don't think I ever could. It's still healing from the last time. I-I can't. I'm so sorry, Axel." She broke down in my arms.

I sat back bringing her with me to sit in my lap as she cried her eyes out on my chest. I mis calculated the amount of damage he had done. This is going to take longer than I had first anticipated, but I will have her. This is just a speedbump. Fayth will be mine. She just needs time and so long as he is out of the picture, I have all the time in the world. "It's ok, little one. I'll wait for you until the end of time. You're worth the wait." Hopefully she doesn't make me wait too long though. I may be pushed to kill the bastard and then she would never forgive me. I kissed her head and held her until her tears stopped falling.
