We Shouldn't Have Gone

Fayth

The restaurant was more upscale than I thought Sandra would have in mind. We are no strangers to money. We just didn't anticipate this from someone our own age, living on their own. Our car was parked by a valet. The door was opened by a doorman. We were seated and asked our preference of wine.

I had expected pizza, soda, and games at Mazzio's, but she apparently liked to dine in style.

I'm glad she told us the name of the restaurant or I would have made a fool of myself showing up in jeans and a hoodie.

Blain scooted in my chair, helping me sit, politely like a true gentleman. My champagne ombre dress sparkled in the low lights. He opted to sit next to me and held my hand on my lap as casual conversation erupted.

We gave the twins polite smiles before setting our sights on each other. Like usual, our gaze held a little too long causing me to blush.

"You look breathtaking" Sabastian stated while staring my way. I tore my eyes away from Blain feeling my cheeks heat up more at the attention and hid my face with my wine glass, taking a sip. "Thank you" I said trying to brush the comment aside as nothing more than a kind gesture, which was difficult seeing as how his eyes had not left me since we walked in. "You both look very nice as well."

The siblings smiled and straightened themselves as if I had compared them to royalty before giving an eerie, in time "Thank you" in return. Sandra keeping her eyes on Blain, batting her eyelashes. He didn't seem to notice. That, or he didn't feel like calling her out.

Our food came and all was quiet for a long while before she made a deep groaning, moan-like sound and rolled her eyes to the back of her head. "Oh my god! Blain, you need to try this!" She scooped up a bite of her scallops and white sauce offering it up for him. He stiffened in his chair, noticeably uncomfortable. "No, thanks." He responded taking a sip of his water.

"Aww, come on!" she whined sticking out her bottom lip and fluttered her lashes again as if that would make him melt into her baby blues and wrap his lips around her waiting fork. "Are you chicken?" she teased, changing her tactic when she saw he wasn't budging. His eyes found hers for a moment before he confessed, "I'm allergic."

She dropped her fork as if it were offensive and reached out grabbing his hand over the table. "Wow... I'm so sorry. If I had known I wouldn't have teased you."

I took a calming breath watching her stroke her thumb over the back of his hand while he ignored the interaction and began eating again. "I'll be back." A said quietly, scooting my chair back to escape for a moment before I make a big deal out of nothing. Blain grabbed my hand before I could walk away and pulled me down for a kiss.

The moment our lips touched the twins gasped and we heard someone else shout. "I should have known!"

I turned seeing Toni with his phone out, presumably recording the scene. "The true story comes out. You were cheating on me the whole time, right? The ice queen had us all fooled, boys." He spoke to his phone screen before turning it to face me. He had gone live and was streaming to our whole class. Comments were filling up the screen. Angry, sick, and crying emojis were floating up like confetti. "Out of all the guys you could have fucked, you were getting it from your brother. That is fucking sick, Fayth!"

Many people sitting around us looked upon the scene in surprise and disgust. Blain opened and closed his fist like he wanted to hit him, but knew if he started, he wouldn't quit. I grabbed Blain's hand tighter trying to calm him with my presence.

In the second between his fist opening and closing and Toni starting to talk more shit, I glanced over at Sabastian who held a smirk on his face while he undressed me with his eyes. He obviously thinks I'm a hoe and he stands a chance now. Sandra stood throwing her glass in Toni's face. The glass shattered and she stood confidently in front of her chair. "You ruined a perfectly good dinner."

Blain

I threw my jacket on the couch as we walked in the house. Fayth had been quiet the entire drive. "That wasn't how I expected tonight to go." I said chuckling trying to ease the tension while remembering Toni's shocked face when he got an impromptu ice bath from Sandra. I wanted to beat the shit out of the little bitch boy, but I knew the possibility of me killing him or landing him in the hospital were high and I didn't want to add more fuel to the fire when I told Brice that I'm dating Fayth and confessed my feelings for her to him.

Fayth turned to me in an instant. Stress evident all over her face. "We shouldn't have gone tonight."

"I saw the live feed" Axel spoke with a smile in his tone. "I'm sure everyone has seen the video at this point." I said sarcastically, rolling my eyes "Get to the point. Why are you bothering me yet again? My time is money, and you are not paying me enough to bullshit with you."

"Hold your tongue." He tried, again, to assert some type of status over me. "How about I just cut yours out?" I asked lowly, smirking at the mere thought.

It would be a glorious day to have him down on his knees, crying for his mommy, begging for his life, and pleading for me to stop the song my blade sings across his flesh as I filet him alive. It wasn't a stretch of the truth when I threatened him. My blade cuts so clean that there isn't a trace of muscle left on the bones I leave behind.

"I was calling to congratulate you. Thanks to that little stunt with Toni, Fayth will be alienated at school. She will feel more alone than she had before. Lonely people seek out friends in those who have been there for them. That person being me. She will come running into my arms in no time." He gushed like a preteen girl at the concert of their favorite boyband. This dude is delusional.

"Great" I huffed in annoyance. "Does that mean my job here is done?" I asked, hopeful he would say yes.

This job feels like babysitting duty compared to my usual work. That's not the only reason I'm itching to get out of here though. Ezio is about to put Dominic in charge of the Italian's and I don't want to be anywhere near this shit show when he comes for their pathetic excuse of a gang family. I've already crossed him once and with Dominic Romano, one chance is all you get.

"Not so fast. The deal is still on until I have her to myself. Her stepbrother needs to be out of the picture. Then I will transfer the money to your account, and you will be free to leave."

I glared at my phone, seething. "That wasn't the deal" I said between clinched teeth.

"The deal was, I get my girl back, Blain is to remain alive, and you leave happily with five million in your bank account without me uttering a word to your precious mafia prince about your whereabouts. So be a good little Child of The Night and make it happen.

I hung up throwing my burner phone against the wall watching it shatter into a million pieces. He may not know it yet, but Axel just found himself creeping up my list and my art collection is about to gain a new exhibit.
