Chapter 12

NAGLAKAD kami palabas ng resto at nagtago ako sa likod n'ya. The funny thing about is, I saw kuya Josh outside talking to someone. He didn't see me but pimilig ang ulo n'ya sa direksyon namin dahil nabangga s'ya ng babaeng nakasunod sa amin. What I did is a came close to Solitaire, wrapped my hands around his waist and walk faster. Nakisabay na lang s'ya sa ginagawa ko.

We ended up in the park where there are other people around us. Hindi naman s'ya malayo sa resto, actually. Teens hanging out at may patrol police lang na nagbabantay sa mga pwedeng mangyaring gulo. Maraming bakatambay sa park dahil na din sa gabing ito, Saturday. We sat on the benches few meters away from the teens whose having a good time.

"May problema ba?" he started asking.

"A relative of mine was there." I replied.

"Does that relative knows you're here?"

Umiling ako. Bigla lang akong natakot. Baka sabihin kung saan saan na ako nakakarating.

"Anong problema? Baka magsumbong sa mama mo?" Tanong n'ya.

"Nah. She's in the band. We're not close. She doesn't care about me—not to be rude and petty, di lang talaga close."

"Which of them is the she?"

"The girl with rhythm guitar." Sagot ko.

I saw him form an 'awe' then he get his emotions fix again. Seems like he knew her. "Is it a problem kapag nakita ka n'ya?"

"No." mahina kong sagot.

"Bakit tayo umalis?"

"Because she's here so my brother is here too!"

He formed an awe again and nod. "Right..."

"She's my cousin at bestfriend s'ya ng kapatid ko. They are always together and di ko ineexpect na makikita ko s'ya dito. What I fear too is, he saw my friends and he knows I am with my friends-"

"Hey." He call me and look me in the eye. I look at him too. "It's fine. He won't. Hindi s'ya dadaan sa gilid. S'ya middle part ang table n'ya, I saw him."

"But-"

"Patty... it's going to be fine." Pagpapakalma n'ya ulit.

Tumango ako yumuko. "I think we need to go back. I'll help Mandy pay the bills."

Solitaire chuckled. "No need."

"Why?"

"It's paid."

"By Who?"

"I paid it."

"Why?"

He look at me again and tilt his head slightly. "Because you are my plus one, remember?"

Tiningnan ko lang s'ya. He chuckled again and look somewhere. "The resto bar is own by Pauline's brother. He got some partnership with his college friend and start a business. Doon kami tumutugtog until we invite performers every night. Pampahatak na din ng costumers. Hanggang sa nabalita sa school yung resto bar at naging tambayan ng mga college students. Matao doon after exams dahil mas marami pa din ng mga estudyante ang trip na magrelax with the hype of club after exams. Isa pa, nagtatransform yon sa umaga into a cafe. Nagseserve sila ng kape for students na gusto mag-aral doon."

"Kaya pala famous ka sa audience." Sabi ko.

"Famous 'kami' sa audience." He corrected.

"By the way, your band members..."
