Chapter 25

Tiana was trembling with fear as she saw Nat lying on the floor. She couldn't believe what happened. Everything happened so fast. Nat was unconscious. Nat risked her life for her. She had to make this right. She could hear the sirens of the ambulances approaching.

A few minutes later the ambulance arrived.The paramedics carefully placed Nat on the gurney and put her into the ambulance. Tiana looked over at Nat, who was still unconscious. Nat took a bullet for her. The definition of friendship. Who knew it would be literally. She really hoped Nat would be okay. Tiana then thought about Bucky's reaction. He would flip out. Speaking of which, she needed to call Steve to tell him about the situation.

She called Steve. "Steve..." Tiana said choked up. "Tiana, what's wrong? What happened?" Steve asked, worry etched in his voice. "It's Nat. She's been shot. We're  in an ambulance right now and  we're heading to the hospital." Tiana said tearfully. "Oh my word! Are you okay?" Steve immediately asked. "Yes, I am. Nat  saved me from the bullet. Now she's hurt. " Tiana cried. "Tiana, this is not your fault. Nat did what anyone else would do for you. Don't blame yourself. How is she? " Steve said, trying to calm Tiana down.

"She's unconscious at the moment. I'm really worried about her. Do you think she will be okay?" Tiana said tearfully. "Nat is one of the strongest people I know. So, I know she is going to be okay. Don't worry." Steve reassured her. "You're right. She is one of the strongest people we know." Tiana reiterated, trying to convince herself. "I'll meet you at the hospital, okay. I have to let Bucky know. I love you. "Steve said. "Okay, see you soon. I love you, too." Tiana said, before she hung up.

Half an hour later, Steve and Bucky barged into the room, panting. Bucky immediately ran over to Nat's side. Bucky was on the verge of crying, he was barely keeping it together. "Baby, I'm right here." Bucky whispered as he gently ran his hands through Nat's  hair.

Steve sat next to Tiana. "Hey, how are you holding up?" Steve asked, taking her hand in his. "Better than earlier. Talking to you helped me calm down a bit. So, thanks." Tiana smiled. "Glad I could help." He said, pressing his lips against her hand. "What did the doctor say about Nat?" "Well, she said that Nat's arm is broken so she will need to wear a cast for a while. Other than that she will be okay." Tiana explained. "That's good to hear. Did you hear that, Buck? Nat will be okay." Steve said to Bucky. Bucky didn't respond. He just held onto Nat's hand, waiting for her to wake up. "Whoever did this, they're going to pay." Bucky growled. "I agree." Steve said through gritted teeth.
 
It wasn't long before Nat woke up. "I hope you were all balling your eyes out." Nat joked, as she woke up. "Of course we were. Bucky most of all." Steve teased. "Aww, babe." Nat crooned, as she turned to Bucky, who immediately gave her a hug."Ow! Babe, that hurts." Nat laughed as Bucky quickly pulled away. "Sorry, babe. I'm just so happy that you're okay. I was so worried about you!" Bucky said, pressing a kiss to her head. "You don't have to worry about me, Barnes. I'm much tougher than I look." Nat said, although her eyes were teary. "I know that you're tougher than me, but I'll always worry about you." Bucky said, as leaned down to kiss her. "I know. I'm glad you do." She said, smiling, caressing his cheek.

"Aww, look at you two being adorable." Steve teased. "Shut up, Rogers." Nat said sharply as she glared at Steve. "Sorry." Steve apologised quickly, averting his gaze. "Tian, how are you feeling?" Nat asked with concern. "Me?! I'm okay. I should be asking if you're okay." Tiana replied, taken aback by Nat's question. "Tiana,I'm okay. You nothing can stop me. Besides, I was not the target. I think you were." Nat said, non-chalantly. "Wait, you think I was the real target?" Tiana asked, confused. "Yeah. From my point of view, the shooter was aiming at you. I just took the shot for you. It looks like someone out to get you, again. Do you think it's Rheya? Nat questioned. "It can't be Rehya, can it? She is locked up. Also, we made peace." Tiana said anxiously. "Well, we can't be sure. There is only one way to make sure it isn't her."
