An Assassin's Choice {Wings Of Fire Fanfic/AU}

Chapter 3: The First Mission

[Yay! The next three chapters are done! I'll be working on making the next parts whenever I have free time.]

    For all of the rest of the year, Flint and RedRunner would go out every morning with Arson to train hard to be assassins. It was exhausting work, but was worth it for the reward, they told themselves. It turns out, they were right. 

    "I can't wait until tomorrow!" RedRunner exclaimed. He was bouncing up and down on his bed as if it was a trampoline. 

    "Me neither!" Flint agreed. "Tomorrow will be our first actual official assassin mission! Can you believe that?" 

    "Yes, because we've been working and training so hard to get to this!" RedRunner offered, grinning. 

    "Toché," Flint admitted. He stretched, sprawling out on his fireproof bed (which was actually just a long, flat rock), and gazed up at the stars, RedRunner doing the same. 

     Their house had two floors made of solid granite. It had no walls and the only ceiling was above the first floor since it was the floor of the second floor. There were also granite poles to support the second floor, and that's the floor that the brothers' room was on.Their parents' room and the kitchen were on the first floor. 

     The first thing that Flint noticed to be different that morning was that their father woke them up before the crack of dawn. 

    "Wake up you lazy RainWings," Arson growled. He impatiently stamped his foot on the ground as they woke up. 

    "So, who are was assassinating?" RedRunner questioned, immediately leaping awake. Arson glared at them for a moment before nodding with satisfaction. 

    "You two are going on a mission; you should know who you're going to kill." Both of the brothers stared at Arson in curiosity. 

    "The target is a SandWing Princess named Princess Delta," he informed them, sharpening his claws with a file. 

    "A Princess!?" the twins exclaimed. Arson nodded. 

   "Yes. Now hurry up and get ready." They did as their father commanded. After they were ready, they silently snuck out of the house as to not wake Sear, who was still asleep. 

     Briefly glancing at his two sons on either side of him, Arson leapt into the air. Flint and RedRunner followed, and they began their short journey to the SandWing Stronghold.
