Dedicated to my awesome brothers for always being by my side:-)
Assalamualaikum my dear readers here is the fourth chapter:
It was a bright, sunny day. The beautiful town of Sundarnagar was basking in the warmth of the bright sunlight. The penetrating sunrays entered the wide open window of a small house somewhere in the middle of the town. The young girl sitting right infront of the window beside the bed on the floor squinted her eyes as the piercing rays approached her.
"Zuppi look! I made chicken chillie," Asbah screamed excitedly, pointing at the small plastic bowl placed on a toy burner, that contained her creation which was a collection of plastic spoons broken to tiny pieces. Zaara glanced at it and nodded turning to look at her neice , " Good, let me just close the window. The sunlight has almost blinded me."
She stood up and walked to the window. The sun was high up in the sky and the weather was very hot.Zaara stared out the window for a little while and then closed it. She turned back to see her neice had opened the wardrobe and was pulling out random clothes making them fall to the floor.
"Asbah what are you doing in there? And why are you removing those clothes?" Zaara questioned coming closer to her neice.
Asbah smiled cheerily and looked upto her aunt,"Zuppi, we are going to a wedding and I m choosing an outfit."
Zaara sighed exasperatedly. Her little neice was very fond of fancy weddings and she often liked to play the role of a wedding guest even in her games. "Fine, whose wedding is it?" Zaara asked a bit irritated.
Asbah batted her eyelashes and smiled replying in a low voice " My friend Summaiya's wedding. "
Zaara rolled her eyes, shaking her head at her neice.Summaiya was just an imaginary friend of her little neice and she had probably heard that name from some elder people.
Asbah turned back to her task of pulling out clothes and Zaara sighed looking at the huge pile on the floor.
She began to pick them up when a red coloured diary fell with a small thud.Asbah continued to shuffle through the clothes while Zaara dropped the ones she had picked up and sat on the floor staring at the diary. She always kept her diary hidden between her clothes as it contained the dark secrets of her broken heart . Zaara never spoke about it to anyone, she didn't like talking about herself let alone the topic she didn't even want to think about. She would only scribble her feelings on the pages of her diary and keep them closed therein. It would make her feel a little better to spill them out rather than keeping it buried in her heart; which was no longer able to accommodate her agonies as it was shattered to pieces long time ago!
Zaara gently lifted her diary and opened it. A faint pink envelope protruding out of the pages caught her eye.Zaara always kept the greetings of her special ones in her diary. She removed the envelope and placed the diary down.Holding it with both her hands she stared at the envelope as her eyes turned glassy.
In the middle of the envelope it was written in block letters :
TO: My best friend ever!Zaara bit her bottom lip as silent tears rolled down her cheeks. Her gaze shifted to the bottom of the envelope at the right corner where it was written in cursive :
From: Yassy.Zaara placed the greeting card close to her chest and shut her eyes. Why Yassy? Why?
She felt small fingers trace her tear stained cheeks and opened her eyes to see her little neice wiping her tears and watching her with a worried expression on her innocent face."Zuppi don't cry.I love you Zuppi. "
