Dedicated to my one and only awesome brother in law ;)
Assalamualaikum my dear readers, plz check out the above picture and let me know your views on it :) I had posted a few pictures of the charecters in earlier chapters too but no one commented on that :)
Silence had engulfed the room to such an extent that it seemed like a gaping void needed to be filled with sounds, voice or anything. The father and daughter were seated opposite to each other in the hall, each one of them trapped in their own reign of thoughts.
Minutes ticked by but not a word was spoken between them.
The perplexed daughter looked up at her father in vexation trying hard to decipher the cause of his silence; The silence that now seemed deafening to her; it would have been so much easier if her father would yell at her, argue like he always did anything but be his usual self rather than just being silent.
Even his face was void of emotions. His expression was blank and he was staring down at the table thinking she knew not what!
He was the one who wanted to talk to her but now here he was sitting as if he never asked to talk in the first place. The lack of communication between them and the fact that she didn't know what was bothering him so much made the silence suffocating for her. Her anxious heart just couldn't bear it anymore!
"Abba?" She finally asked in her soft gentle voice that was now filled with concern.
At this point her father raised his eyes to meet hers, the eyes that now displayed an emotion which she had never seen before; an emotion that was different than the usual stern, dominating composure she was used to; whatever it was the feeling seemed to be foreign to her!
"Abba ....you wanted to....say something? " She gulped nervously as it was the first time they were talking after the argument last night.
Her father nodded. He again looked at her with the same earlier emotion that she couldn't decipher and sighed heavily,
"Beta Nawal........I was wrong. "
It felt as if a bucket of ice cold water had been poured on her.She gaped at the words that had never been uttered to her before. It was like she was just learning those words for the first time in her life.
I was wrong !!
Her father, Mr. Hussain Bakhtiyar just admitted to her that he was wrong. She didn't know what he was talking about just those words had cast such an impact on her mind that she wondered for a moment if she had heard them right!
"...Ab....Abba wh...what are you....talking about? " Nawal stuttered.
Mr.Hussain sighed again as his shoulders slumped in defeat,
"About the unfortunate meeting you had to go through, about the consequences of blinded trust, and about the improper decisions on a father's part."
Now it was like another bucket full of ice cold water had been poured on the poor daughter. With utmost shock she looked into his eyes.It was now that the clouded emotions became visible to her. A mixture of guilt, anger, hurt, apology and pain was what played in the father's eyes. She couldn't name the foreign emotion but it was something close to regret!!
"Abba I....."
He raised a hand to stop her cutting her midsentence.
"Listen to me first. It was the lack of judgement of a father that made his daughter go through the pain she most definitely didn't deserve to go through.
I was blinded beta...I was blinded by my years old friendship."
He confessed guiltily , a lump forming in his throat.
