Dedicated to Allah subhaanahu wa taa'la for His countless blessings in my life . Alhamdulillah !!!

Betrayed, hurt and broken; was  how Zaara felt as her heart shattered to a million pieces! She was as if  someone had hit her hard and paralysed in place. She didn't know what to think, whom to blame for her misery.Yasmin had been so close to her ; almost like a sister and now when she needed someone so badly Yasmin hadn't even bothered to call or text her.The reason was utterly unknown to Zaara. They didn't even fight nor was there any misunderstanding as far as she could remember. The only cause she could think of for her miseries was that she had been a terrible person and her sins had landed her in the lurch!

Zaara sat on her bed with red, puffy eyes staring blankly ahead. Her tears had dried and darkness had consumed her mind. She sat unblinking as the wind swayed through the balcony door and played with her black wavy hair making a few strands fall across her face. She didn't even mind to push back the hair in place. She was too preoccupied with her thoughts. Her silky dupatta had slipped from her head and fallen on her shoulders.

Arif was now settled with his wife abroad and Zaara missed him terribly.Even though he had been in touch yet his absence was painful.Although Zaara was grateful that he had recovered from his illness. She was now completely alone and isolated; or so she thought.

A light knock on the door interrupted her train of thoughts. She glanced at the door and stood up not even bothering to fix herself. As she went to the door and opened it, a frown settled on her face.It was her second sibling ; Anas.

Anas had never been the type to converse and comfort her although he did care for her.A lump formed in the brother's throat as he took in the pitiful state of his sister.
Zaara stepped aside to let him in and closed the door.

She then went back and sat on the bed and Anas sat infront of her.He had brought a book with him which he kept beside him.Zaara kept staring down at her lap.Anas scrutinised her for a moment and sighed.

"You know", he began and Zaara looked up," It happens with everyone. We feel something is good for us when actually it isn't;  and we feel something is bad for us and in reality it is the other way round."

Zaara looked down again, her confused mind unable to comprehend his words.Anas continued,"Zaara can I ask you something? "

Zaara glanced at him and nodded.Anas sighed," Do you know who is the one you should love?"

Her eyes widened slightly as this was the topic she least expected that too from Anas.He had never been an open minded person and this topic seemed strange to be brought up by him.Zaara shook her head in response.

Anas smiled slightly,"The One who brings you closer to Allah is the One you should love. The one who reminds you of your Creator is the one worthy of your love."

Zaara thought of all the people who had broken her heart.Did they remind her of Allah? Never.Instead they made her forget Him.
