Dedicated to Khatijad for her immense love for Shattered hearts :) JazakAllah Khayr dear I wasn't planning to update this soon but reading your lovely comments I just couldn't help it. ;))
Surreptitiously the night maiden had begun to retreat taking slow steps while carefully gathering her black cloak that was widely spread across the land. It was pre dawn period and the darkness had casted it's peaceful charm upon the beautiful town of Sundarnagar which was drifted in a deep slumber.
In the elegant villa that stood proudly amidst the strikingly beautiful nature's beauty, a beautiful, newly wed bride was peacefully sleeping on her comfy bed. A few strands of her silky hair covered some part of her fair graceful face. She seemed to be immensely at peace as she slept contently.
Some more time passed by and she stirred in her sleep turning to the other side. A slight frown came on her sleepy face as her soft hand made contact with
the empty bedside. She tried to open her sleepy eyes but couldn't find it in her to get over the sleepiness. Her frown deepened realising he wasn't beside her.
A faint sound which seemed like a melody reached her ears and she tried to decipher what it was. However with the heavy amount of sleep in her eyes she couldn't quite make out anything. She tried to concentrate on it more acutely and it seemed to her immensely peaceful & soothing.
As her sleepiness began to fade she could hear it more clearly. Her sleepy eyes slowly opened and were met with darkness except for the faint moonlight coming from the balcony.Squinting in that direction she realised the balcony doors were wide open and some distance away from the doors her husband was sitting on the prayer mat reciting the Holy Quran in his deep amazing voice. Her eyes widened slightly as she came to know it was his voice that had awoken her from her slumber and she had to admit his recitation was incredibly beautiful!
For some time she just sat there listening to his recitation.
It was so captivating, so peaceful, so touching that it touched the bottom of her very heart and awakened her inner soul. It was as if the entire room was in a daze, a sense of inexplicable peace enveloping the room!
She felt completely overwhelmed by what she witnessed. Very discreetly she got out of bed and switched on the lights as he hadn't done it for fear of waking her up.
He paused in his recitation and closed the Holy book turning around to see his now awake bride. She stood by the switchboard in her nightgown with arms crossed on her chest and a slight frown on her beautiful face. Her long silky hair were slightly caressing her fair face and arms.He quickly averted his gaze and turned ahead, it had already taken him all of his will power to wake up for Tahajjud just like he did everyday. But today he had woken up a little earlier than usual to read some Quran before Tahajjud. And it required a really firm spiritual strength to wake up & earn the pleasure of His Creator when his beautiful wife had been sleeping beside him.But when the heart is adorned with His love, nothing can stop a believer from striving in His cause & earning His pleasure!
"You could have atleast switched on the lights", she scolded in her soft tone.
"I ...I didn't want to wake you up." He stuttered nervously.
"Arhaan, we pray Tahajjud together everyday. " It had been 5 days since their wedding and they would pray Tahajjud together everyday.
He didn't fail to notice the disappointment in her voice.
She had been thinking he already prayed.
