The elegant white house in the heart of Sundarnagar was bustling with wedding preparations and  arrival of  close relatives and guests. Only two days were left for the wedding and all the family members and relatives were in a major hurry to get all the chores done in time.

Most of the close relatives were expected to arrive by the evening. Not many people in far relations were invited yet the close relatives itself were enormous enough. One of the reasons being that the bride to be was Mrs.Zeenat Bakhtiyar's neice, daughter of one of her sisters. So the relatives in general were common and all of them had to be invited in addition to both the bride and groom's paternal families.

The first guest to arrive in the morning was Zaara's beloved Chachi
(Paternal aunt) and her son.Zaara had always been like a daughter to her Chachi as her aunt's own daughter ,who was an year older than Zaara, had passed away at an early age.

Farheen opened the door and welcomed Mrs.Naushin Bakhtiyar and her son.

"Assalamualaikum Naushin Chachi, Alhamdulillah m so glad to see you", Farheen said with a smile embracing her aunt in law.

"Waalaikumassalam beta, I am glad to see you too."Mrs.Naushin returned the hug and stepped in with her son.

"And how are you Aslam? You look quite grumpy today." Farheen commented once the mother and son had taken their seats.

Mrs.Naushin looked at her son in a disapproving manner and then turned to Farheen, "That is what he is beta.A grumpy annoying child. He didn't want to get up at 10:00 in the morning and since I made him do that he has been acting all stubborn and stupid."

Farheen laughed as Aslam muttered something under his breath.Aslam and his mother never got along well.He was a very stubborn, mischievous kid and his mother :a talkative, complaining type; no doubt they would have fights every single day. And the fact that Aslam ' s  father was a gentle, patient man who never raised his voice on anyone proved to be a catalyst for the daily fighting reactions between the mother and son!

"It's okay Chachi, teenagers can be annoying and grumpy at times." Farheen tried to reason, taking a seat opposite them.

"Leave about teenage, he has always been a stubborn child. " His mother stated angrily.

"Will you stop repeating  the same statement over and over again?" Aslam retorted , with a tone full of rage.

"Watch your tone Aslam, she is your mother. And if she asks you to do something right you don't have to be grumpy about it", Mrs.Zeenat, who had just walked out of the kitchen with two glasses of water, scolded her nephew.

Aslam didn't apologise however didn't say anything further since he respected his Chachi more than he did his own mother.

The ladies then greeted each other and sat down for a while doing general talk as Farheen brought refreshments for them .

"So when is Mahmood bhai going to return from his jamat?" Mrs.Zeenat questioned referring to Aslam ' s father.

"No bhabi, he won't return until after the wedding. He had already talked about it to Anas earlier. Since he is the Aamir (leader) of the jamat he won't be able to." Mrs.Naushin explained as she took a sip of the juice.
