Sara

We are now having lunch at Jessica's parents and as we sat around the table we were discussing a lot of legalities and segregation of wills between the kids. Jessica and I keep giving each other the eye and squeezing each other's hands as our parents continue to talk nonstop.

"So the mother house we have in Mexico will be under both Luke and Sofia, unless they plan to have more kids then we will just keep adding their names to it. I know we have Elena too and she might decide to have children of her own so she will be getting the house we have here in Washington." My Dad said, looking between my mother and my in-laws.

"The same goes with our home in Missouri. Since Jessica is our eldest, she gets the mother house which will be laced under the children's names too, with Jessica and Sara as the one to make he calls for it until the children are of legal age." Steven said

"Jessica baby, would you want this house here?" Her mom asked. I was speechless with everything that was happening.

"Oh, Mom I don't know. I mean... I have a lot of siblings and if you guys are giving us the house in Missouri I don't think it's fair to take this one too." Jessica answered then looked at me uncomfortably and seems like she just wanted to disappear from this conversation. I squeezed her hand.

"We'll cross that bridge when we get there, Sweetheart." Her mom answered back.

"Okay then next, we'll be giving each child a trust fund, each having 1 million dollars. And I believe you mentioned last night that you each will be topping that off right? Which means, each child gets 3 million each." My Dad said as her referred the other two being Jessica's biological father and her mom and Steven. I saw Jessica's jaw drop and looked at me with the mention of the money.

"Yes that's right. The we'll also have a separate funding for them for their college which we will also fund equally at $500,000 from each of us." Her Dad answered.

"Yes, that makes that 1.5 million for each. They can go all the way up to get a doctorate degree and they'd still have enough for a could more degrees." My Mom joined in.

"If they have anything left then that they can take and make use however they want, provided they finish college. If they don't then that will be taken away and be given to charity." Jessica's stepdad answered and looked at me and Jessica, getting our understanding on the terms.

"Agree!" We all said in unison.

"All other assets will be divided equally amongst all our children, however value that'll be after we liquidate and they can just split that up amongst their own children." Jessica's Mom said.

"Yes, we'd do the same." My Mom answered.

"Okay then we're all settled. Sara, Jessica, any comment or concerns?" Her Dad asked.

"Well... It seems you all have made up your mind and made that discussion without us, but yeah, those are your money and your assets, we can't stop you from doing whatever you guys want to do with it. The only thing Sara and I would probably comment on is to not rub that information to the kids as they grow up. We want them to be able to work hard and earn for themselves and not rely on inheritance. We want them to be responsible and be independent."

"Fair enough, Sweetheart." My Mom said and smiled at us.

Jessica

The entire conversation over lunch was uncomfortable for me. I know it was for Sara too but she composed her self better than I did. I kept doing all these facial expressions of shock, confusion, and all other emotions you could possible think of. All I wanted to do was stand up and leave. Don't get me wrong, we really do appreciate the fact that they are doing these for the children and they genuinely want to make sure that the have a secured future. But for us, parents, it was just overwhelming.
