Elsie Granger

The four of us arrived at the Potions classroom to pick up our books. Most of the new looking books were gone so we all just grabbed one from the stack. Draco went digging in the stack to find one that looked nice, which made no sense as he's not going to even open the textbook.

"Hurry up or we're leaving without you," Enzo shouted.

"I have to pick my book like I pick my women."

"Out of your league?" I asked.

"Mudbloods?" Norah added.

"I hate you all, you know that's not what I meant!" he shouted.

"What's with the attitude, Malfoy? Are you on your man period?" I asked.

"Shut it, Granger. You're lucky I haven't slapped you yet."

"Do it then, Malfoy," I responded, "Your father teach you that? Did he teach you to slap women?"

"He taught me to slap Mudbloods, and besides," he thought for a moment, "I won't because you would probably like it."

"What an excuse!" I exclaimed, "I think you like me too much."

With that, Malfoy quickly moved his book to his non dominant hand and threw his hand toward my face. It didn't hurt as much as I anticipated, but according to the looks on Enzo and Norah's faces, it left a mark.

"I would never like you, Granger. You and your kind disgust me."

"Why do you like Holly then?" I questioned, "She's a mudblood."

"You're flat and Holly isn't!" he spoke angrily, throwing his nearly perfect book to the ground. The book now looked worn, just like the rest of ours.

Before the situation escalated, McGonagall happened to be walking through the hallway and rushed to us.

She scanned all of our faces and quickly assessed the situation, "Two days of detention in my room during lunch Mr. Malfoy.

Malfoy gave all of us a dirty look before walking away toward the common room, "Look what you did this time, Granger!" he shouted from down the hall.

"Are you okay?" she asked.

"I'm fine," I forced a smile before she let the three of us go.

If Professor McGonagall hadn't been walking by, Enzo may have needed to step in to shield me. And if he couldn't, I may have been left on the ground with two black eyes and a busted lip.

"What in the bloody hell is his problem?" I asked.

"You insulted his father so he had a fit," Enzo answered.

"So he hit me!" I exclaimed.

"I hate to say it, but that's just how he is," he began, "His father never taught him right from wrong and how to deal with emotion. Though that's no excuse for his behavior."

"The only thing his father did teach him is how to treat Mudbloods," Norah chimed.

"Why don't we all sit in the courtyard to get some fresh air after that," Enzo suggested.

"I could use some."

The three of us walked, side by side, with me in the middle to the courtyard. We quickly noticed that it had begun to storm outside and our plans were temporarily pushed off.

None of us wanted to face Malfoy in the common room, so we needed to find somewhere else to go.

I felt as though the common room was my safe place to do as I please, but I can't stand to be around Draco right now.
