Elsie Granger
About three weeks had passed since the last note was placed in the mailbox. It had been about three weeks since I ended my relationship with George. I told him he could apparate to my flat in private, but he has not. We can be secret lovers I would say, No strings attached. He didn't like the idea of being secret.
I told him we could be friends as we used to be, but the flaws from our relationship stayed in that friendship. I didn't go into the Joke Shop unless I planned on buying or talking to Fred. I missed him- the George who had listened to me and would be there for me through all that had come my way.
My business was wildly successful because of the international customers, giving Ron much time to work and earn a paycheck. "Still haven't spoken to him yet?" he asked.
"No." There was not much else I could say as I had no business entertaining a conversation about him.
I found that customers were my greatest joy, not because of the money they would pay to me, but also the company they were. Some told me of their plans for later that day of going to a sunny beach and getting tanned. Others told me about the foods they had cooked recently or would recommend certain foods to try.
Some conversations were very bizarre, like when customers came in and would tell me how their pet dog chewed up their shoes and that was why they were walking around my shop barefooted. Stories like that were able to make me laugh, though Ron knew he would be the one to clean the floor of the mess they tracked in.
After breaking up with George, Martin has noticed a change in me and my mood which has worsened. He put me on a medicine that has been slowly helping me to wake up in the morning and stay motivated to work.
I was starting to feel happier every day.
The time until the school year at Hogwarts was approaching and I knew I needed to be in the best condition possible in order to take on the role.
Ron and I have been cleaning up the shop today and many customers have come in. He managed to stay entertained by talking to the ones with strange accents who could barely understand any English. The oddest things entertained him.
Draco even came into the shop today alongside his mother. "Hello, dear." she began, "I heard the shop has been wildly successful."
We went to the office where I could still watch the shop and help Ron if he needed but also so Narcissa and I could have some privacy. I could only imagine what Draco was saying to Ron. Maybe he was tormenting him on his clothing or maybe he was forcing more information out of him like he did weeks ago.
Once I was done talking with Narcissa, we joined Ron and Draco in the shop who were avoiding eye contact. Maybe Ron had started it this time. That would have been fun to watch.
"Can I talk to you?" Draco looked into my eyes so deeply that he may have been looking for what lay behind my eyes.
We went into the office the same way I had gone with his mother, leaving the door open but still giving us enough privacy.
"I haven't been able to stop thinking about you, and since you broke up-"
I cut him off, "I know what you're going to say. Maybe we could give it another shot. I'm not ready to, Draco."
"It's not that you don't want to? It's only because you aren't ready?" A smile forced across his face, a subtle smile.
"We're barely even friends," I began, "You show up once every few weeks and want to get back together. If you came every few days to walk the alley with me or if you invited me to dinner or to spend some time with you, then maybe I'd be ready."
