Elsie Granger
The morning began, my first day of my last year of school. It felt like it was just a few short months ago when I was being sorted into Slytherin. Before my first class of the day, I sipped on some tea and fixed my hair which becomes knotted whenever I sleep without brushing it thoroughly beforehand.
Draco seemed to be in a cheery mood this morning for no particular reason, though it brought a smile to my face.
"Hello, Ms. President." he smiled.
"You don't need to refer to me that properly." I laughed softly at him.
"Rather me call you a slut or something?"
I glared at him in a joking manner, but I still looked halfway serious. It was enough for him to get the memo.
"Ready to brew up some potions this morning?" I asked.
"Still half asleep, so not really."
We got together our things and looked more sophisticated than we probably will until graduation. Breakfast was like it was every other day of school, but maybe it was different because of our mindset. I'm speaking a bit too intelligently for my mind to keep up with.
On our way to class, I spotted Holly Ross and my head filled with anger and frustration. I really need to work on that.
Draco and I took our seats beside each other and Norah sat beside Neville, leaving poor Lorenzo all alone. I shouldn't say that he's all alone because he's taken a liking to somebody, but they aren't in this class and I'm not sure if she feels the same way back.
Lorenzo has been obsessing over Luna Lovegood and though they used to be close, they've drifted. I love Luna, but she's always seemed uninterested in relationships, or maybe just relationships with guys.
She's a feminist for Merlin's sake. What feminist isn't even slightly gay? Maybe that's wrong of me to say, now guilt is enveloping me.
Our first potions lesson of the year went by swiftly and before I knew it, we were free to wander the halls before our next lesson, DADA.
We did as we normally did, walked around until we were nearly late and had to hurry to class. The thrill never really seemed to get old.
On our way to Snape's classroom, Luna joined us as we walked and stood beside Lorenzo as that was where there was an empty space.
"Where are you all going?" she asked in her quiet tone.
"Snape's classroom." I replied, "Just finished up in potions."
"I'm going there now," she smiled, "Is he in a good mood this morning?"
I didn't say anything which gave Enzo the cue to start talking with her, "Yes."
You have a chance to talk to the girl you're nearly in love with and the only thing your acorn sized brain can come up with is Yes. For fucks sake, I thought he was good with women.
She gave a smile before breezing down the corridor. I nudged Enzo in the shoulder and started yelling in a whispering tone about how awkward it made me to just listen to that encounter.
"Talk about secondhand embarrassment!" Norah laughed along with me.
DADA was as it had been for the last few years, dreadful. Snape stood in front of us and gave a little spiel before going around the room with trivia and throwing a small ball at whoever got one wrong. He of course gave me some question that I knew nothing about, so I got a ball straight to my forehead.
