A couple weeks later
It was the first day of school and I was dreading it. Blake walked into my room so I turned around for him to zip my dress up for me.
"You ready?" Blake moved my hair and pulled the zipper up.
I glanced at him and let out a laugh, "yea right."
"I gave you a copy of my schedule didn't I?" He set his backpack on my bed and began digging through it.
I walked to my bag and pulled it out, "yes."
"If you need me, come find me, okay?" He zipped his bag back up.
I rolled my eyes, "I think I can manage."
He chuckled and kissed the top of my head. "Yea so get your ass in the car."
"Right." I grabbed my heels and ran to the car with my backpack. I put my heels on in the car.
-
I sat in first period already bored. The teacher had been introducing herself for nearly twenty minutes and was about to have us go and do the same.
She grabbed her clip board and began reading off the attendance. My last name being Rivers, I was towards the end. The last name on the list though I wasn't expecting to hear.
"Winston. Dallas Winston." She read off.
I fumbled with my pen and rolled my eyes at his name. I haven't talked to him in weeks.
"Dallas? No Dallas?" The teacher glanced around the room.
"He's in jail," I huffed.
A couple students looked at me and others who knew him began laughing.
"Excuse me?" The teacher held the board to her chest.
"Yea, he's in jail." I looked up at her. I rolled my eyes and hoped not to be written up for my attitude.
The teacher stepped slowly towards the back of the class where I was seated. I had a bored look on my face as I chewed gum and toyed with my pen, watching her approach.
She put the tip of her pencil on my desk and stared down at me, "I think I would know if my student is in jail, miss-" she looked down at my paper, "miss Rivers."
I let out a laugh and sat up, crossed my hands and squinted my eyes at her, "he's my boyfriend. I think id know if my boyfriend was in jail, miss G."
"Boyfriend? Thought you hated me, sug?"
I glanced at the door and Dally was leaning on the door frame. My eyes widened and I couldn't help but smile.
"Dally," I stood up and walked towards him slowly. He opened his arms and I wrapped my arms around his torso. "What are you doing here?"
"Talked the judge into letting me come to school. Got out early so long as I actually attend." He kissed the top of my head and let go of me.
He walked across the class and took the clip board from the teacher. He checked off his name on the attendance sheet and handed it back to her.
He then walked to various friends of his in the class and gave them all fist bumps or high fives. I sunk down in my seat again and Dally nudged the kid sitting beside me to get up and move.
"Mr. Winston," the teacher stood at the head of the class. "Class started nearly thirty minutes ago."
"Looks like I made it just in time, Mrs. Seems to me I was right in time for attendance." He smirked.
"I don't know who you think you are-"
"My name is Dallas." Dally interrupted her.
I let out a laugh and the teacher snapped her head towards me. Dally glanced at me and grinned.
"Dallas and Elena, this behavior-"
Dally interrupted her again, "I just sat down Mrs. Just trying to get my education."
"You're disruption to this class will not be tolerated!" She slapped her clip board on her desk.
"So move on, damn." I huffed.
She stared at me then picked up the chalk and wrote both mine and Dally's names on the corner of the board.
"Detention Friday."
"Why?" Dally leaned forward on the desk. "We're being bad?"
"Yes." She exhaled sharply.
"Or is it because we're greasers?" I put my foot up on the bar of my desk. "And Dal here just got out of jail so you automatically think something of both of us?"
"Enough!" She shouted. "Before I make you leave my classroom." She turned and started writing on the chalkboard.
"He's really your boyfriend?" A girl whispered beside me.
I glanced at her then shook my head, "I broke up with him a couple months ago."
"Why?" She stared at him as he chatted with the greaser next to him.
I looked at him then sighed. "He cheated on me."
I leaned away from her and began copying what the teacher was writing.
After class I gathered my papers and turned to walk to Dallas but the girl who was asking about him was leaned on his desk flirting with him.
I walked over and stood behind the girl. Dally's eyes shifted towards me and he stood up, moving past the girl and putting his arm around my shoulders to lead me out of the class.
I let out a huff, "she was cute."
"Eh," Dally nudged me. "You look really good."
I glanced up at him then let out a smile and looked at my schedule. "Whats your next class?" I asked.
"Gym." He stared at the paper in his hand. "Whoopee."
I let out a laugh, "I missed you."
Dally stopped walking and leaned against the lockers. "Are you mad at me still, doll?"
"Well," I let out a long sigh and leaned on the lockers next to him. "Yes. I mean... I can't get over it that easy."
He nodded his head, "are you still seeing Soda?"
I shook my head, "just friends."
Dally let out a smile, "can I ask you out again?"
I stared at him then looked away, "no. And id let you kiss me but not in the middle off a hallway." I glanced at the students walking by. "I'll see you later, Dally." I kissed his cheek and walked away from him.
