We were sitting at the Curtis house. It was late since we waited to go there until Soda and Steve got off work. I was sitting next to Steve on the couch as I watched the boys struggle to do a puzzle. Ponyboy and Two-bit kept throwing the pieces at each other and Johnny was the only one actually finding the correct pieces.

Steve had his arm around my shoulders as him and Soda watched tv. When Darry got home he looked surprised to see me.

"Well look who it is." He put his bag down and opened his arms.

I stood up and walked into his arms, hugging him tight. "Miss me?"

"Very much." He chuckled. "You broke up with Winston and suddenly act like none of us mattered."

"Just got busy thats all." I sat back down.

Soda looked at Darry, "she's running away."

Darry raised an eyebrow at me and I glared at Soda, "I am not."

"She is." Johnny huffed. "For no good reason."

I leaned into Steve and scoffed, "I don't expect you guys to understand why I'm leaving."

"What happened?" Darry grabbed a beer from the fridge.

I shrugged and stared at the tv, "I just don't like living with Blake and Sam. I'm staying with Anderson."

"Im asking my dad tonight if she could move in." Steve let out a sigh. "He ain't gonna like it."

I glanced up and Darry didn't look happy with me, "You're being selfish."

"No im not-"

"Elena you have a perfectly good home and you're leaving because you're annoyed with your brothers? Or am I missing something because you sound like an idiot." Darry raised his voice at me. "Johnny can't even go home!"

I looked down at my hands. I hate when he yells at me. Steve pulled me in closer and kissed my head.

"You're making Steve and his father worry about how they're gonna feed an extra mouth just because you have to sleep in the same house as your brothers? Gonna make Steve's girlfriend worry about him all the time with a girl living at his house? I know Dallas has moved on Elena but you don't always need attention." Darry ranted.

I dont have anything to say. I can't argue with Darry. To him, he's always right. It doesn't matter your reason, but you better not step to him about it. I have a harder time standing up to Darry than I do my own brothers.

"Darry come on," Steve sighed.

"No. I don't care what excuses you've got for her. I don't care if your brother slapped you or you got pregnant and they've kicked you out. No fight constitutes you moving out of your perfectly good house Elena. And if you do move out, you need to get a damn job and find your own place to live instead of pawning yourself off on your friends, who by the way, you havent spoken to or seen until you've now needed something. " Darry opened his beer. "You're not moving in with Steve."

I glanced at Steve then back down at my hands in my lap. I didn't say anything.

The door opened so we all glanced over and it was Dallas walking in with that girl. He basically ignored me sitting there but she stared at me. Sodapop moved closer to me so the two had a spot on the couch.

"Well this is awkward." Two-bit broke the silence.

Pony nudged him and the three on the floor began laughing. Steve leaned close to my ear.

"You can still move in if you want." He whispered.

I looked at him then shook my head, "Darry would have an aneurysm."
