Dally's POV

I dropped Elena off at her friend's house like she requested then drove further east to Curly's.

I busted through the door which startled his mom, but when she saw me a small, comforting smile came to her face.

"Good evening, Dallas."

I wasn't in the mood but I couldn't be mean to her. She's always given me a place to stay before we all got that apartment together.

"Hey, Mom," I joked and went for a hug.

She smiled and returned the hug, "you look upset."

"Just looking for your son." I sighed.

"Well Curly is in his room," she ran the back of her hand on my cheek. "You staying out of trouble? You've gotten so handsome since I last seen you."

I chuckled a little, "yes ma'am. If you hear your son scream, just know he's fine." I walked down the hall.

I shoved Curly's door open and his eyes darted to me. "Dal..."

I walked to him and lifted him by the collar. "If I hear one more time that you're around telling people about Nicole and I, I'll gut you."

"I only told Pony," he shoved away from me. "Don't cheat on your girl if you can't handle the consequences."

I wanted to punch him. I balled my fists by my side and I swear steam was spilling out of my ears.

"You need to mind your business, Curly."

"Your girl is hot, Dallas. I don't understand why you'd cheat on a slice like her." He shook his head in disapproval.

"Just mind your business." I threatened.

He scoffed and shoved past me. "Can't wait til the day she fucks a dude because she finds out you've been cheating on her for nearly the whole duration of your relationship. If I'm lucky ill be the dude she-"

I punched him. He hunched over and held his jaw. I shoved him against the doorframe.

"Say it again," I taunted.

"I wanna fuck your bitch-"

I punched him. A devious grin came to his face. I shoved him away and began walking down the hall, flexing my fist and wincing at the pain.

"Would you stay for dinner, Dallas?" Mrs. Shepard was standing by the stove.

"No, I can't." I walked to her. "Smells good though."

"When you see Tim tell him to visit. He hasn't been home in a couple weeks." She smiled.

Curly came down the hall cupping the blood spilling from his mouth. His mom looked at me and her expression changed to disappointed.

"I gotta go," I hugged her from the side.

"What did you do, Dallas?" She called out as I walked away.

"He was talking about my girlfriend, Mom, I had to put it to rest." I waved at her and shut the door behind me.

As much as I tend to hate both Tim and Curly, their mother has always treated me like family. The two boys are more like brothers to me than anything which I think is why we're often at each others throats.

I drove to the Curtis house and walked in. Everyone greeted me but I just let out a distressed sigh as I sat down.

"Long day?" Darry shoved my feet off of the coffee table.

I shot him a small glare, "sure."

"Weren't you supposed to spend the day with Elena?" Sodapop asked.

I groaned a little as I got ready to complain. "That broad is getting on my nerves."

Steve let out a laugh, "you're quite an ass to her."

I rolled my eyes. "She was being a bitch today. Would barely talk to me but wouldn't tell me why. I had to actually watch the movie at the drive in because she refused to let me touch her."

"Doesn't sound so bad," Johnny shrugged.

I scoffed, "you try holding a conversation with a girl who won't even look at you."

"Maybe she found out you've been cheating on her for ten months." Darry shrugged.

I stared at him then huffed, "she has no way of knowing."

"Why don't you just dump her?" Steve asked. "You wouldn't have to sneak around."

"Because I like her." I muttered. "And I don't want to hurt her."

"But you're cheating on her." Darry cocked an eyebrow.

"That doesn't mean I want her to find out."

Darry rolled his eyes. "stop sleeping with other girls."

"Mind your business," I snapped. "You guys aren't dating her, you don't know what its like."

"But we do know what you're like, Dal, and we know what a pain you are to keep happy." Darry said.

"Saying I'm high maintenance?" I cocked an eyebrow.

The boys began laughing as Darry walked away to avoid the question. I scoffed and stared ahead at the TV. I began thinking about Elena, and what I'd do if she found out.

First things first I'd kick the ass of whoever told her. She's oblivious and we've gone this long without her knowing. I like Elena, and yes I'm not just with her but I'm not with any other girl the way I'm with her.

I can just imagine the damage that would come from her finding out. She'd 100% dump me and I'd hate myself for making her cry. She gets mad at me a lot, and we fight, but I've never made her cry.

"Hey Dal, ain't your one year with Elena coming up?" Johnny asked, breaking through my thoughts.

I ran my hand through my hair then rested my arm up on the back of the couch. "Yeah. Gotta figure out what to do for her. Feel like she'd slap me if I just took her to the movies." I chuckled.

"Take the broad on a real date, Dal," Soda got up from the table and walked to the fridge. "Like get yourself up fancy, take her to Rozzie's." He said.

I shrugged, "im not into that."

"But she's a chick," Two-bit looked at me. "Get her some flowers too, chicks dig flowers."

"Chicks dig flowers," I muttered under my breath. "Y'all act like I have a dime to spend."

Darry chuckled, "Dal, you have a job. Quit spending your money on other broads and alcohol and maybe you'd have something to spend on your girl."

"But Elena doesn't care about the money I spend on her."

Soda chuckled, "I thought the same about my girl until I saved up some cash and bought her a necklace. I don't think I've ever seen her so happy, and hell, I don't think she's ever fucked-"

"Sodapop." Darry snapped.

Him and Steve started laughing and I couldn't help but join in. I stood up.

"Gotta motor. I'll think of something, I still have a couple weeks." I walked out.
