Elena's POV
I stared at the locket in my hand and couldn't help but smile. I took the cat toys and put the bag aside.
"Tony," I clicked my tongue.
My cat came striding into my room. I waved the stick with feathers at the end and Tony jumped for it.
"Look what Dad brought you," I laughed as he batted at the feathers.
I frowned once I realized what I said. Dal and I always joked Tony was our son. He called me Mom, I called him Dad. I picked up Tony and kissed him, petting him a couple times before putting him back down.
I went to fold the gift bag up and tuck it away but seen the card in the bottom. I was afraid to open it, worried it'd say something I didn't want to hear. I held it in my hands and stared at it.
"Blake," I called out. I walked out of my bedroom and stood in his doorway, "Dally left a card in the gift he dropped off... I'm afraid to read it. Could you? Then just tell me if I should."
He chuckled, "Sure, Elena."
He took it and tore it open. He set the envelope to the side and opened the folded sheet of paper. His eyes went wide, then he winced in order to read Dally's nearly illegible handwriting.
"El, you should read this. Its pretty intimate." He folded it back up before he even got past the first couple lines.
"What's it say?" I grabbed it.
"Its long."
I opened the paper and slightly gasped seeing how much he wrote. I walked out of his room and back into mine. I sat on my bed and read it through.
Full of excuses. I felt myself begin to tear up so I crumpled the paper and threw it across the room. Tony went pouncing across the room. He batted the balled up paper around.
I knew everything he said in the note was him telling the truth. Hes never expressed himself like that before. He's never shown me his outright vulnerability like that. I believed everything he said, but they were still excuses.
You don't cheat on your girlfriend to get over her. I decided to call it a night though it was only a little past 6pm. I laid down and went to sleep.

I walked into the Curtis house and was greeted with smiles as the older boys got ready for work.
"Good day, Elena." Darry smiled.
"Hey guys," I walked to the table where Steve and Soda were hanging playing cards.
"How've you been, Elena?" Pony came out of his bedroom.
"Good, kid," I ruffled his hair. He glared at me since he hates being called kid, and hates when anyone messes with his hair. I've never seen a guy care so much about their hair.
"You going to the party tonight?" Two-bit pulled his head out of the fridge.
I chuckled and sat on the table, "no. Didn't know there was one."
"Dally's not going, we already asked." Steve said.
I nodded my head, "I still don't want to go. Maybe another time."
"Elena, you said that last week," Johnny walked towards us since we were now all in the kitchen and dining room, except Darry who was getting dressed still.
I shrugged, "Im not interested in partying right now."
"Come on, it's been weeks since the break up," Two-bit took a swig out of the bottle of orange juice.
