Luke's POV
"You have been charged for shop lifting and multiple accasions of physical assalt. With that being said, you will have a sentence of 5 years in prison!" The judge said before slamming down his hamlet.
My mom was crying and my sister was angry, even disappointed. I looked over to my cousin, as he usually got me outta things like this, since not only was he family, he was my lawyer too."Uhh, your honor?" He asked looking up to the judge, who honestly looked tired of all the bull shit.
"Yes, Mr.Denis?"he asked. "I hate to disagree with you, but my client is far too young to take place in such an environment. He's only twenty two,he still has a whole life ahead of him! Is there any way you could possibly give him a different sentence ?" He asked. I looked over to the judge who looked like he was going to cut me some slack. I smirked.
He looked over to my way then shuffled through some papers on his desk. As he landed on a certain page his eyes skimmed over it and then he looked over to me as a huge grin spread over his face. I tried not to glare at him, because it might ruin my chances of getting out of this.
"Hmmmmm, why yes. I believe we do have another solution." He said setting the papers down. I grunted and nodded to Jon in satisfaction and we grinned at eachother. But was soon replaced with disapproval at the next thing the judge said.
"Yes, 5 months on a ranch far from the city should be your punishment." He said smiling to himself all the while.
"Wait what!? THAT'S SOME BULL- "
"Its final, it's that or prison! And I'm sure you don't want that." The judge cut me off while glaring down at me. I looked over to Jonathan once again for his help. He glanced at me then back at the judge.
"W-with all do respect your honor, what good will it do to take him away from the city to s-some....ranch?"
"I don't see a problem here. The way I see it, Luke will get a safe enviorment with a roof over his head and regular served meals. He will learn to be a respectful young man and learn to work every day like every good citizen." He boomed.
With that being said Jonathan averted his gaze from me, knowing I was more than pissed. Once we left the court room, I was taken home to immediately start packing with a supervisor. The whole way there, not a single word was said. Yeah I was relieved I didn't have to go to jail, so was my mom, her mood was lifted as soon as we had left the court house. But I don't wanna leave the city to be around some dirty hags that will boss me around.
" Are you mad at me?" Jonathan said as I was stuffing my bags with clothes. I sighed.
"No I'm not mad, at you anyway." As much as I was a little frustrated at him for not trying harder, I couldn't be mad at him. He was always there for me, since middle school and till now. We would usually get out of our issues with money and his charming talking, but I guess this judge actually took his job seriously.
"Jonathan...what am I gonna do? I can't have some random old people take control of my life! I'm a street thug! I'm not good at listening to other people." I said looking up at him from my spot on the floor.
"Sorry Luke, I can't really do anything to help ya here. Those country folk are hard heads, they don't bargain with money." He sighed disappointed in himself. I got up and hugged him.
"It's fine Jonny. It ain't your fault, I guess I just have to deal with this one on my own like a real man for once." I said.
Once I finished packing and said my goodbyes, I hopped in the back of a truck, that I was guessing was the farmers, and we were on our way.
