November. Transgender awareness month.
It was all over Twitter, YouTube, Instagram. Hell, even my mum's Facebook book club filled with milfs we're celebrating it. They had a theme and everything!
I turned my phone off, the black screen facing my reflection back at me.
I was transgender too. Well...sort of.
Was I? Hard to tell. Am I even allowed to celebrate it as well? It's on my birth certificate. I was born as a female. It's a fact.
But was I male now? Just because I identified as one, does that really make me one?
It's a long, painful story to think of.
When my family agreed to get me the surgery for my transition, it was all going as planned. The day of, was clear so we didn't have to wait longer than needed, the nurses set everything up nice, clean and organized, and my family even sat there encouraging me and reassuring me for half an hour until it was finally time to start.
The next thing I knew, my family left and the room was filling with random strangers dressed in their blue gown like attire.
The doctors had fucked up.
