I was not arrested. The team of lawyers to protect me inquired from the City Hall for my potential case. They have found out that there was no complaint filed against me. Two of the men were held overnight, but were eventually let go.

The cement plant will continue, but with a different investor. It will take a year longer for the project to commence. I felt sorry for the lost year of opportunity for the people, but at least the deal is still on.

Mark and Krista stopped showing up for dinner. I heard Krista left for Cebu. Maybe Mark is with her too? Pero hindi siya nagpasabi.

Josie and Mang Cardo were able to keep their job, but they are no longer assigned to me. After a week, I asked Papa to put them back on me. Buti at pumayag naman after Tita Carmel took my side.

"Ma'am, thank you talaga. Akala ko babarilin kami ng Papa n'yo sa sobrang galit!" Salubong sa akin ni Josie nang bumalik siya sa pwesto niya.

"Hindi naman ganoon si Sir, Josie," Mang Cardo defended my father.

"So, hindi ka natakot?" Tanong ni Josie dito.

"Mas takot kapag nalaman nila ang tungkol kay Sir Mark. Baka sabay tayo barilin. Iyong parang Bagumbayan style," sabay tingin sa akin.

I choked at napaubo ako sa revelation ni Mang Cardo.

"You knew?! This whole time?!" Tanong ko sa kanya at nakanganga din si Josie sa kanya.

"Ano kaya ang rason bakit hindi pa kayo nahuhuling dalawa," he rolled his eyes at me bago isinara ang nakangangang bibig ni Josie.

"How?!"

"Hindi naman sa nagyayabang pero kasali po ako sa elite team ng papa niyo." Sabi niya hindi siya nagyayabang pero himig kayabangan iyon, ah.

"Mas madali magkunwari kung mas maraming alam. Iyang pagtakas niyo sa Rizal Shrine, nakikita ko lahat 'yan! Binabantayan pa rin kita mula sa malayo." Dagdag kwento niya.

"Teka lang! You betrayed me!" Akusa ko sa kanya.

"Eh, di sana sinumbong na kita sa papa mo," tinaasan ako ng kilay. "At iyang mga date nila ni Krista dito, bakit kaya walang pumupunta doon sa powder room na iyon?"

Bigla akong nahiya and I could feel my face heat up in shame. Si Josie ay pilit akong kinakalabit.

"What do you want me to do?!" I turned to her at pinanlakihan siya ng mata. I cannot deny those kasi alam ni Mang Cardo lahat.

"Ang ibig ko lang naman pong sabihin, ihanda niyo na rin ang mga sarili niyo para sa firing squad ni Sir. Ikaw Josie, si Sir Mark, at baka pati kayo po, Ma'am," parang pep talk naman ito for our impending death.

So, we have become a solid team.

I was no longer allowed to go on the tour group outside the resort. I am back to being stuck here. I have tried calling Luriel if he knows something about Mark, but I couldn't reach him. Ang sabi ng assistant ay nasa bundok daw.

"Ma'am baka busy lang po si Sir," pang-aalo sa akin ni Josie nang mapansing tingin ako ng tingin sa entrance ng restaurant.
