LET GO
The city mayor was requested to formally intervene in the mess created by the Garcia and Carvajo families. He is a common friend.
Yesterday's events were officially reported due to the use of firearms. The city council also needs to review the security clearance of our resort.
The standoff was a personal and private issue, but it happened in our place of business. The council needs to ensure that proper response and adequate protocols were followed to protect the guests and staff.
We might be the primary contributor to the city's coffers, but that does not excuse us from any potential sanctions and penalties if we violate the law.
I stared at myself in the bathroom mirror. My eyes were puffy from crying. They were hollow from lack of sleep. I got hurt from the sadness I see in them. I could not even stare longer because it is killing my soul too.
They were once filled with wonders and joys I shared with him. But one look at it now, it tells our ending story.
Tears involuntarily spilled. I am afraid they may never stop. I wished love never would hurt this much. It brings happiness, but it also comes with the unpleasant package of pain, sorrow, and agony.
I wiped my tears and amazingly was able to stop them.
I grabbed the two ziplock bags from the bathroom counter. I carefully inserted them into the pockets of the floor-length halter flowy dress I was wearing.
"I convinced Papa to have a sit down with them. He knows about your promise to put an end to this." Ate Carla was waiting for me outside my bedroom.
Tumango ako sa kanya at sumunod pababa ng hagdan. One of our drivers brought us to the main conference hall. A lot of guards were outside, which signifies that the room is full of some very important personalities.
We entered the conference hall. A large dark wooden rectangular table sits firmly at the center of the room. A tablet and digital pen rests at the center of every seat. A bottle of water and a small bowl of snacks beside it.
The table allows up to twenty people to sit around it. We use it for team evaluations, customer relations, or collaboration with staff members.
We mostly hold informal meetings at the restaurant. The conference hall became an exclusive place for confidential meetings.
Today, it is full of familiar people including the City Mayor Gilbert Asuncion. I have met him quite a few times when he comes to relax in the resort with his family, and during parties inside or outside our resort. He is currently sitting at the end center of the table.
A striking division between two families can easily be seen inside. The tension is palpable. On one side is the Carvajo family with Mark, his Daddy Adolfo, his Mommy Rosalynne, and his Kuya John Michael.
On the other side of the table is my family with Papa Federico, Tita Carmel, Kuya Nathan, and Ate Carla. Mommy Isadora failed to come due to the urgency of this meeting.
"Are you okay?" Mark looked up and mouthed it as soon as I stepped inside.
I nodded lightly at him before I sat beside Ate Carla on the side across his family. His Kuya John waved his hand at me. I opened one hand to wave at him, but Ate Carla immediately glared at me. I closed it down and gave him a small smile.
"So! I really hate to be caught in the middle between two great friends. But here we are!" The mayor lightly opened the conversation.
"There is really no need for this. We have cut ties with that family a long time ago!" Matigas na sabi ni Papa as he glowered at every member of the family sitting across us.
