I was panting as I continued moving forward.

Nasa gitna ako ng dagat ng mga taong papalabas ng airport. I was trying to move past my fellow passengers. It was already past 12 noon and I was already running late for my appointment. With traffic, it could take over an hour from the airport to the center of the city where my appointment was.

"Nasa labas na daw po si Sir Luriel, Ma'am." Naririnig ko ang boses ng aking sekretarya na si Ruby galing sa maliit na earpiece sa aking tainga.

"Got it, Ruby. Please cancel my hotel reservation. I could just stay in Luriel's condo. Uuwi din naman ako agad pagkatapos ko ayusin ito."

"Opo Ma'am. Text na lang kita after confirming the cancellation."

Nakita ko agad si Luriel sa waiting area. Kumakaway at nakangisi. I approached him dala ang aking overnight bag at maliit na Chanel purse na nasa aking balikat.

"I have missed you!" Bati niya sabay yakap sa akin ng mahigpit. I nestled into his arms.

"I have missed you too!" Tiningala ko siya at ngumiti.

"Manong Rudy, pakilagay po ng gamit ni Teddy sa likod." Utos ni Luriel sa may katandaang lalaki na nakatayo sa likod niya.

"Hello po, Mang Rudy. Na-miss ko po kayo!" Bati ko sa driver-bodyguard ni Luriel at nagmano. The last time I have seen him was probably eight years ago. May nakikita na akong konting puting buhok sa ulo niya pero matikas pa rin ang tindig.

"Naku! Bolero pa rin po pala kayo pero salamat po!" Tumatawa kong sagot sa kanya as I placed my overnight bag sa upuan bago umambang papasok ng sasakyan.

"Matanda ka na daw. Nangungulubot na!" Pinindot ni Luriel ang tungki ng aking ilong at natatawang inalalayan ako papasok ng sasakyan.

Sinimangutan ko lang siya pero natatawa din naman ako. It felt comfortable. Parang walang nagbago. Parang hindi ako umalis. Parang kahapon lang lahat ng iyon.

"Please just drop me off doon sa appointment ko. I don't wanna be late," sabi ko sa kanya while changing out of my sneakers into my black 120mm Pigalle stilettos na hinigit ko galing sa loob ng aking overnight bag. I took my jacket off and put on my cream colored tweed open-front blazer. I was already wearing a black stretchy skirt a little over the knee ang haba at kulay nude pink na sleeveless silk top with a bow-tie neck.

Buti na lang malaki ang likod nitong sasakyan ni Luriel. I just needed to make minor twirks in my outfit to make it more presentable for the corporate meeting I will have in a bit. Ipinatong ko sa kanya ang purse ko while I was putting everything neatly back into my overnight bag.

I checked myself in my compact mirror. I already did my light makeup back home before I took my flight. I let my waist-length natural dark brown wavy hair down. I brushed it using my fingers at medyo ginulo para magkaroon ng kaunting volume.

The flight was a little over one hour lang naman kaya fresh pa ang makeup ko. I retouched the lining of my lips using my Charlotte Tilbury blush lipliner. I then put my favorite YSL coral lip gloss, smacked and puckered my lips. Done! Mukhang tao na uli. Akala mo hindi ko hinabol ang baka na nakawala sa farm kaninang umaga.

Sumulyap sa akin si Luriel. Nakakunot ang noo. I knew he was worried.

"Are you sure you really wanna do this?"

"Of course, Luriel! This is about the company at hacienda. I need to protect my people."

"You know I could hook you up with some of my business partners, right? You need help, I am offering it."
