We agreed to meet to discuss the contract at La Isla Hotel's rooftop cafe. He stays there while he is here to deal with the contract. I got there ten minutes early for our 10 o'clock appointment. I walked into entrance and headed for the cafe located the rooftop of the hotel. Marami akong mga nakasalubong mga papaalis na bakasyunista at mga kumakain sa kanilang kilalang buffet.
I was wearing a pink V-neck satin blouse tucked into white cotton pantsuit, and topped with a white cotton longline blazer. I wore a pair of nude 120mm Pigalles. I pulled my hair up on a high ponytail exposing my bare face and elongating my neck. On one arm is my nude Prada Double Zip purse holding my MacAir and a folder of documents.
I will try to discuss some options to retain the existing contract. But if this does not work, I will prepare to present my business to other companies. I have received some offers within the past year due to increasing popularity of my products. Demands are getting high and offers for partnerships are constantly increasing from domestic and international companies.
I took the elevator up to the rooftop cafe. I stepped out and walked the pathway. On my last turn toward the door of the cafe, I froze on my heels. I saw a familiar face I haven't seen in eight years. Beside her is a little girl around seven years old holding her hand. Nightmares flashed in my head. My ears started to ring and my hearing muffled. I quickly turned on my heels.
"Ella, wait!" Hinabol ako ni Janice. I did not stop and hurried back to the elevator and pressed it quickly close. Inabutan niya pa rin ako so we stood there on each side of the tiny room. I have to escape just like what happened eighth years ago.
"Say hello to Tita Ella," she gently told the little girl who immediately smiled and waved her hand at me. I did not respond.
"Her name is Janella," she continued as she placed the girl infront of her and affectionately caressed her shoulders. Tumango ako nang kaunti as a response.
"I named her after us," she further talked about the girl. "Jan for me and Ella for you to honor your sacrifice and courage. I haven't really thanked you for it yet kasi iniiwasan mo ako whenever I try to see you."
"There is really nothing to be thankful for," I whispered.
"No! I know what you did, Ella. I know what you have been through. I am also thankful to have the sweetest daughter," she gently hugged the girl.
"Good for you. I need to go," as hurried out as soon as the elevator opens. Nakasalubong ko si Mark sa labas.
"I'm sorry, I need to cancel the meeting," I rushed to the door toward the parking and left.
My breathing hitched and my chest hurts. I hurried to my cabin deep in the woods after parking the car near the barangay hall at the bottom of the mountain. I trekked the trail barefoot. I walked miles on a dirt path. My feet are muddy, and I felt cuts from sharp stones, but I continued walking.
