6. Not good!

Mal pov:
Kaylee and I were busy in the strange hotel kitchen again.
We had found everything we needed and decided to boost the atmosphere by baking something of cookies or something.
"No nuts! Skye is allergic to that." Kaylee said quickly.
"Oh, okay. Maybe part with and part without. Then there is choice?"
"Okay. But we have to be careful about Skye."
"It's okay. Really."

After an hour we took them out of the oven and I put them on two dishes; nuts and without nuts. We let them cool and then took them no to the others. "Hey guys! Come here!" Kaylee yelled, chuckling.
And pretty much everyone came.
"Girls, how did you do that?" asked Ben from Kaylee's world.
"We found some stuff in the hotel kitchen and decided to bake some." Kaylee explained.
"What's the difference of the two scales?" asked Gil.
"Skye is allergic to nuts so there are some that don't have nuts."
"And so the others with." I added Kaylee.
But Skye and Zed were the only ones not there.
After a while they still weren't there and there were two of each kind left for them. I
stood up.
"Let me see where they are..."
No one seemed interested. Bunch of vultures.

I walked back into the hotel and knocked on their door.
"Guys? Are you here?"
"Only me." the voice of Zed said.
He opened the door and I gave him 2 of the cookies.
"Kaylee and I baked. I also have 2 more for Skye. Do you know where she is?"
"She said she wanted a rest. Try by the lake."
"Okay thanks."

So I went there. And yes, there she was.
"Skye, are you okay?"
She looked up startled.
"Mal! Yes... I'm fine..."
"You're lying."
"How do you know that?"
"I lied about something for three months. I know how lying works."
"Fine... It won't work."
"What is?"
"Promise not to say anything more?"
"Of course. Then what is it?"
"Have you ever had the feeling that you will never see someone again after a period of time but start to care about them very much?"
I sighed.
"Yeah..."
"I have that now with Zed."
"Wait what?!"
"I think I'm starting to like Zed but I don't even trust him. I want to get through that stupid Z-band."
"Let's go back. You have a crush on Zed?!"
"Not so hard!" she sissed.
I chuckled.
"Calm down, I won't tell you anything."
"Yes, but I have three problems because of that."
"Three?!"
"Yes, Addison is Zed's girlfriend. I will never see him again after a while. And Sean has a crush on me!"
"Oh..."
"What should I do Mal?"
"Follow your heart."
"I have very little use for that now."
I sat down next to her.
"I know how you feel. You feel like you have to go with Sean because you will never see Zed again. I had that once with Benjamin and Harry. I thought I had no choice. I lost Harry. So I had to go with Benjamin."
"And what have you done?"
"I followed my heart and got back to Harry."
"Mal?"
"Yes?"
"Will you leave me alone for a moment? I have to think."
"Yeah right. Oh, almost forgot. Kaylee and I baked this. These two were before you."
"Thanks Mal." I laughed and walked back to the others.

Zed pov:
Kaylee and Mal could bake. But I thought Mal said it had nuts in it... Skye got without... Wait a minute... Mine had no nuts so now Skye has a big problem!
"Guys, where's Skye?!" I yelled, nearly falling down the stairs.
Kaylee looked startled.
"How so?"
"Mal said she had two more nuts for Skye and two more for me, right?"
"Yes?"
"They've been switched."
"What?!"
"Where's Skye?!"
"Mal!!!"
Mal came running.
"What is it?"
"Where's Skye!"
"By the lake? What's going on?"
But I ignored her and ran towards it.

After a while I saw Skye lying on the ground, making choking noises.
"Skye!"
She looked at me weakly and it was indeed noticeable that her windpipe was closing and swelling.
I looked at her startled.
"Skye, look at me. Where's your bag?"
She pointed weakly to her bag, which was a few feet away.
I grabbed it and grabbed that allergy shot thingy.
"Okay it'll be fine, Skye..." And without thinking I put that syringe, through her pants, into her thigh as she had said back then.
She shot up and gasped.
"Skye!"
"Zed!"
She hugged me and I put my arms around her.
"You saved my life..." she said softly.
"I know. Are you okay?"
I felt her sob and I tried to soothe her.
"It's okay... You're okay... Everything is fine again..."
I chuckled briefly.
"What's so funny?" she asked insulted.
"So that you now trust me enough to hug me."
"Why shouldn't I trust the one who saved my life?"
I was silent and grinned.
"Only a monster would let you die."
Skye let go of me and wiped her face on her sleeve.
"Thanks Zed."
"You can always count on me."
"I believe you."
I helped her up and we walked back to the others.

Skye pov:
When Zed and I got back to the hotel, Sean sprinted over to me.
"Skye! Everything okay?"
"Yes, Sean. I'm fine."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah... Zed saved my life." and I smiled at him briefly.
Sean sighed in relief.
"I'm glad about that. I was afraid you were going to die."
"But I didn't."
"Close call though." Zed corrected me.
Sean looked at me concerned, I rolled my eyes and gave Sean a hug.
He was very surprised but also put his arms around me.
I chuckled.
"Sean, you are a really good friend."
"A good friend?"
"You sound disappointed...?"
"Oh no."
I looked at him with a wink and grinned.
"I'm just teasing you."
"Oh... Of course..." he said uncertainly.
I mean, I already knew he had another crush on me but he obviously wasn't ready to admit it yet.
I let go of Sean and he seemed uneasy.
"Sean?"
"Yes?"
"Just admit it."
"Admit what?"
"You know that."
"Umm..."
Zed got the hint and ran off with the others. Sean looked at me with a grin.
"Okay. So you already know."
"It's very clear."
"And?"
"And what?"
"I like you. You already knew that... But do you want me back?"
"Oh... Well..."
I bit my lip. Now I had to tell him...
"Sean... I..."
