Aisha walked down the alleyway that led to the street her house was on. They walked up contrite steps (a corner of the second one fell off and they often tripped on it), onto their porch.
They swung open their front wooden door and entered their small, claustrophobic house. They walked down a narrow hallway into the living room where they saw their parents sitting on the floor counting money and putting coins into coin rollers.
Their mother sighed. "Honey come help us will you?"
Aisha tossed their book at into the floor and sat down next to their mother to help her with the coins. Eventually they ran out of coins and where left with stacks of nickels and Quarters but not enough to fill the entire roller. Their mother still ended up gently putting the rest of the coins in it and crossing out the $10 and writing 6 above it.
This is often what after school looked like for Aisha.
Their parents didn't make much money, their father not being able to hold a job and their mother being a Rite Aid cashier. Aisha works at a 5 and below as a cashier as well, so in total their yearly income is around 30,000 USD a year.
Today Aisha would not be working because someone had died outside the store from a heart attack so their manager had given everyone the week off.
When they had finished, Aisha helped them stick the rolls of coins into a box after counting them. In total they came to 23 dollars.
Aisha left the living room and went to the bedroom they shared with their sister Jisoo, who was not home due to detention at school she hoped her parents would never find out about.
Aisha set their things down next to their bed (more like mattress on the floor), and sat down on the mattress that didn't have a bottom sheet on it just the white comforter and a baby blanket they had gotten from their grandparents when they where 3 years old.
The blanket was nothing more than a blue and white blanket, probably about the size of their torso, with stars on each side of it. Blue stars on the white side and white stars on the blue side.
They took off their black Canvas slip on shoes they had gotten from 5 and below on their first day at work and set the pair next to the lamp that sat on the floor in the middle of Aisha and Jisoo's beds.
They took out their phone, they had saved up money for forever to get, and started scrolling on Instagram for a while.
They scrolled and eventually a post came up from Yuuri Tokunaga. It was a picture of him laying next to a sleeping Namjoon, smiling. It was funny because Namjoons mouth was gapped open and his eyes where slight open as well.
This brought back the memory of them lashing out on Yuuri about coming over to their house. Aisha really did want to hangout with Yuuri but they felt embarrassed about it.
Aisha thought about it for a while. Why should they feel embarrassed about something that isn't their fault?
Aisha clicked on Yuuri's name in their phone and put the phone up to their ear. It rang a few times before Yuuri answered. "Hey Aisha! What's up?" Yuuri asked sounding surprisingly happy for some reason.
"Hey! Umm actually I think you could come over to my house if you still want to." Aisha said almost face palming themselves because of how stupid they sounded. "Uh ok! Does Saturday work?" Yuuri asked.
"Sounds good! Ok bye." Aisha said before hanging up.
Two days passed and it was now Saturday. Yuuri was packing the things he thought he would need to sleepover at Aishas house for the night. He packed things like phone charger, hair comb, vape and charger, ect. He didn't really need a pair of clothes to change into because he was only wearing sweatpants and a hoodie so he thought he would just sleep in those. Aisha had told him to bring something to entertain them because they didn't have much at their house so he packed some face masks and teeth whitening strips, and video games and controllers Aisha said they could hook up to their TV.
