She stepped outside the big airport, rolling her suitcase behind her. She looked up at the blue sky, the sunlight making her squint.
The air felt foreign, but familiar at the same time in the different country she had just entered. After the divorce between Jian and BangChan, Jian decided to move back to the US like she had originally planned years ago.
The city of Chicago was different from how it was when she left. But still the same.
Some stores where different, things had been moved or remodeled, but other than that the same. She had a lump some of money she got from the divorce so she could afford at least a one bedroom apartment since that's all she really needs. Thank god no children where involved in the divorce, Jian hated kids.
She found jobs online before she even moved, applied for a few she was qualified for. Back in Korea she had been a nail technician doing impressive nail art for how long she had been doing it. Maybe 5 years?
Pretty much the whole 13 hour plane ride she just listened to music, mainly Carolesdaughter, not getting much any sleep because of a crying baby on board. Again, she hates kids.
Jian once had a whole debate with her mother on why she shouldn't have kids. Most of the things involving how she would parent.
Jian looked the same as she did when she left the country with her father. Short, skinny figure, black/brown hair, olive skin. The only changes where she got more ear piercings and highlights in her hair.
She hadn't rented a car, so instead she walked to the bus stop that would take her at least near where the place was she would be staying at.
She had made a deal with an old friend, that she'd pay to live in her apartment until she could afford a house or an apartment for herself.
She sat in a blue seat next to a girl, probably not over the age of 15. The bus took her into the city, and stopped in front of another bus stop. She got up and got her things from above the seat and exited the bus.
The friend agreed to pick her up from the bus stop and was waiting, for her in the parking lot that was in front of a mall.
Jian put her things in the trunk of the SUV and hopped into the front seat of the car. "Hey Amber!" Jian said and Amber smiled before backing out of her parking spot. "Thank you so much again."
"Oh no it's fine. I don't mind at all. I haven't seen you in forever! How have you been?" Ambers eyebrows bent, sticking her head a little bit out the window to see what the car in front of her was trying to do. "Move jackass!" She yelled and hit the steering wheel, making a honking sound. "I'm sorry" she apologized to Jian for being obnoxious. "Nah it's fine. Umm I've been ok. Could be better. I just got divorced, moving back here. I would have come back sooner but BangChan didn't want me too. He made me feel guilty for leaving him so I stayed to be with him."
Amber scoffed and turned her wheel making a sharp turn onto a side road. "What a dick!" Jian nodded in agreement. "Goddamn that's why I like woman." Jain giggled and looked out the window.
"Fuck you bitch!" Amber stuck her middle finger up aggressively at another car, after it cut in front of her almost hitting her. " Rager much?" Amber smiled. "Tend to be. But it's not my fault people are twats!"
They got back to ambers small house, actually a duplex she's renting for the time being.
"Sorry it's a mess. I wanted to clean up before you got here but I didn't have the time." Jian shook her head and looked around ambers house a bit.
"Where do I sleep?"
Amber sighed and looked around the room they where in. "Well my couch is a pull out if you want to sleep there, or I have an air mattress, or you can sleep in my bed with me." Amber shrugged. "Is that ok?" Amber nodded and Jian followed her to her bedroom. "You can put your stuff over there." Amber pointed to underneath the window.
