After about a month of working as a boba barista, Jian had finally made enough money to start buying things for her room and giving the rest to her dad to pay rent.

She had managed to buy a desk online for 50,000 won, a not huge but big enough, bed frame to put her mattress on for 69,000 won, a small white dresser she had snagged from a cheap furniture store down the street for 17,000 won, and a small little black night stand with a tan colored drawer in the middle for 20,000 won.

She made around 8 dollars and hour and worked 6 days a week so she made a decent salary. She gave the rest which added up to around 600 USD to her father so he could pay rent, buy food, furniture, and other home necessities.

That weekend, her father had taken her to the bank to open an account for her so she could save money.

Lately she had been going out with Yeonjun and as far as he knew thing where going well. "He must be hella desperate." BangChan would say. All he had to do was show up with pods and she'd go on a date with him.

The last date she had been on with him was to a what Koreans would call a '노래 방' or a karaoke room. Jian had to admit he was a fun guy to be around and he was cute but the pods where definitely a perk. Often times they would laugh together and complain about work, he'd visit her boba shop to get boba and watch her work.

After Jian's shift ended it was around dinner time. She sighed putting her apron back on a hook and took off her name tag to put it in her red purse. She walked out into the front room and saw Yeonjun waiting for her. She took a sip of the boba she had made herself earlier and walked up to him. He stood up and smiled. "Dinner?" He asked putting his hand in his jacket pocket and pulling out the corner of a pod packaging so she could see.

She nodded and he took her to a Korean bbq place for dinner. "So Jian we've been going out for a while right? And I heard that Americans like to take things slower than Koreans but I was wondering if you'd be my girlfriend." He said out of no where surprising Jian a bit. "Uhhhh" Jian said wide eyed and frozen.

He started to get worried when she didn't say anything. "Jian are you using me?"

She shook her head. "No no I'm not using you at all!" She denied. " so your going out with me because you like me right?" He asked and she nodded. "So why not be my girlfriend?"

The waiter came over bringing them their food and interrupting the conversation.

She waiter knew by the awkwardness at the table so she smiled and quickly left. Yeonjun look back at her waiting. "Yeonjun I do like you and umm.. I just think I want to think about it first ok?"

He nodded sadly and they continued the way their food with an awkward silence. After dinner he drove her home and before she got out of the car, kissed her cheek. "Goodnight" he gave a right lipped smile. And then she did something that surprised both of them, she kissed him. "Night." She said pulling away and getting out of the car. She ran into her apartment building.

"No but it's like, I like him, but I don't know because I haven't been in a serious relationship in a while you know and I'm underage so..." Jian said to BangChan on the phone. "Being underage has never stopped you before. Honestly just try it. He likes you a lot you can tell."

Spring break has come and the girls and boy at Arthur's Catholic school got to go home if they wanted to. Y/n got into her mother car and they began the ride home. "Y/n I wanna tell you something." Her mom said looking at the road in front of them. "While you where away I met this guy. His name is Chad. Chad Guffmen. Well we've been together for a while now and he proposed to me. I've been staying with him for a while now so I want you to meet him and tell me what you think."
