❁ adventure time

//luke's point of view

tiny beads of sweat started forming at the top of my forehead and my hands were starting to get clammy from holding faye's hand for too long. not that i don't like holding her small and delicate hand which is now full with life ; rather than lifelessly resting on the hospital bed.

now i think about how our relationship used to be, it wasn't exactly perfect but it was just right for us because we didn't need it to be perfect we just needed it to be alright.

as long as we loved each other ; nothing else mattered.

i looked to my right and saw her smiling and her blue eyes glistening even more brightly than the colour that already filled them.

her hair flowed past her face, behind her shoulders as the wind carried it.

she looked so effortlessly beautiful.

"where are we going" she grinned even wider.

"wherever you want to go"

"i would like to go to the park" she grinned at me from ear to ear.

i don't know why she chose the park out of all the places we could've gone. we could of gone to a pizza parlour or ice skating since there's a new one in town.

but i guess it's the park.

she squealed as we reached the old rusty gate that lead us into the greenery.

"i remember here"

"you do?" i asked.

"yeah, of course! i used to come here all the time with my school friends. we used to hang out here and pretend we were cool" she laughed and i knew right there and then she just took my breath away.

once again.

"this is cool that you're remembering" i smiled. "i'm proud"

"i'm glad that i'm remembering" she giggled whilst her eyes twinkled "but i honestly wish i remembered more about you"

her lips formed a slight pout which i had to admit was really cute.

"honestly it's okay. you will remember in your own time" i gave her a reassuring smile. she held my hand tighter and i rubbed my thumb over her small hand.

i never seemed to realise how big i am compared to her. she's so petite and cute. she must think i'm some sort of mountain that continuously towers over her.

the birds were singing their songs and i gently hummed along to them ; some of them seemed to be repeating the same tune.

faye hummed along too.

we walked along the gravely path in silence but a comfortable silence. this is more than what was happening when she was in a coma.

"hey should we try and re-jog your memory?" i suggested as we walked up to a bench.

"sure" she grinned.

we perched down onto the bench as i unlaced our intwined fingers.

"so what do you remember about me? if there is anything" i spoke.

"um, well i know your name is Luke and that your last name is" she paused for a moment "brooks" she smiled at her achievement.

"yes! well done" i chuckled.

"we were friends before i was in a coma and you have two brothers but i do not remember their names" she shrugged her shoulders.

"we were more than friends before but i'll take that" i gently smiled.

i think i just got friendzoned, i thought.

"i do have two brothers, correct. their names are Beau and Jai"

"Beau sounds like a girls name" she laughed and tilted her head back. she quietened down and apologised.

"to be honest it does really" i quietly laughed.

"oh wait, something else" she closed her eyes as if the scene was being played in her mind.

i saw tears slip from her eyes down her cheeks and off her chin. what has she remembered.

"no. that can't be it. that can't be what happened."

"what happened, tell me"

"we were on our way to our first date weren't we?"

"yes" i sadly smiled. after she heard that word, she burst out into tears.

"the song Black Widow was playing, wasn't it?" i nodded, she continued "that's why i recognised it, they were playing parts of it in the hospital"

i will never be able to listen to that song again without attaching it to the memory of almost losing my love and her being put into a coma and forgetting about me.

i let the tears flow down my cheeks i couldn't keep them in any longer.

faye reached her arms out and i immediately plunged myself into her body and she attached her arms around me. i did the same to her.

we were both comforting each other.

but there was no adventure.

the only adventure was trying to explore ourselves again.

trying to make faye explore the background of the memories she's remembering.

so adventure time isn't really the adventure we expected.

THE END.
