Zhan POV
We spent a beautiful New Year's with Yibo's family; I grew fonder of each and every one of them the more time I spent with them. We prepared to fly back to Macao tomorrow, but I would certainly miss Luoyang. For the first time, I had high hopes for the coming year, for the whole future.
One of them was marrying Yibo; I don't think I could wait to make him mine any longer. I drove to the town park after dropping Jingyi. I went looking for Yibo the but Mrs. Wang told me that he left with a friend; he mentioned the park. I parked my car and looked around for him but I couldn't see him, after a couple of tries I spotted him talking to Jackson.
He doesn't give up, does he? I thought irritably, I wanted to talk to him once and for all. Make sure he leaves Yibo alone for good. I got out of the car and approached them, I knew Yibo didn't like me talking to him either, but I had to do this.
"Can I cut in?" I said standing behind him, he jumped a little at the sound of my voice; something he hasn't done before. He turned to me and smiled uneasily.
"Good you're here, lets go," he said grabbing my arm "Goodbye Jackson" he said sternly. He looked at me when I refused to move "Go on, I just want to have a few words with Jackson" I said. He bit his bottom lip looking at me with pleading eyes. I smiled reassuringly and kissed his forehead.
He reluctantly walked away, I leaned against the street lamp; I waited for him to get in the car before I looked at Jackson.
"I don't know you Jackson and you don't know me, but I hope we can be honest and civil with each other," I said. Despite my irritation with him, I promised Yibo I wouldn't start any trouble with him over him. But I wanted to clear a couple of things with this first; I could be diplomatic even in stressful situations. He nodded.
"What exactly do you want from my fiancée?" I asked calmly "I want him back." He said fervently "I made a stupid mistake, I love him; losing him made me realize that" he said. I paused for a moment, it was clear that Jackson cared about Yibo, which made me slightly uneasy.
"I'm going to try to be as unbiased as I can" I said, "You may have made a mistake, and everyone deserves a second chance. The fact remains that it is not your call or mine whether you get it or not, it is his." I added. "You betrayed and hurt him when he needed you, but he has moved on now, moved on with me" I said.
"What if he hasn't moved on, if he changes his mind and wants to be with me instead, would you stand in his way?" he asked. I shifted my gaze back to Yibo; he was watching us closely. I realized just how sad our situation was.
We were both crazy about the man in the car, but only one of us could have him. I paused for a minute "No" I said truthfully, as much as it would kill me, I wouldn't stand in the way of his happiness. "But he made me promise to never let him go, and I intend on keeping that promise."
I looked at him "I 'am the one he wants and loves, which is why he's marrying me. End of story." I said, his eyes narrowed
"How can you be so sure that you're what's best for him?" he asked. "I'm not" I replied simply "But he has made his decision and I'm not going to stand in the way of that. And neither will you" I said.
"He could be marrying you just for the money you know" he said bitterly. I gritted my teeth, I couldn't believe he disrespected Yibo like that. He is the only one I've met who doesn't care about my wealth and power.
"If he wasn't looking right now, I would beat you to a pulp" I spat "After all these years you still don't know him, do you?" I quietly barked disgusted. He looked down chagrinned
"I have more love for him in my little finger than you ever did in your entire body. So until he comes running into your arms, I suggest you leave him be. Do you understand me?" I asked fiercely.
